OCZ RevoDrive 3 x2 480GB PCIe SSD Review - Seriously Fast Storage
PCPer File Copy Test
Our custom PCPer-FC test does some fairly simple file creation and copy routines in order to test the storage system for speed. The script creates a set of files of varying sizes, times the creation process, then copies the same files to another partition on the same hard drive and times the copy process as well. There are four file patterns that we used to try and find any strong or weak points in the hardware: 10 files @ 1000 MB each, 100 files @ 100 MB each, 500 files @ 10 MB each and 1000 files at 1 MB each.
Two words: Holy Crap! The Revo walked all over everything except for the ioDrive 160 in file creation, and flat-out dominated the field in our file copy test. Considering that it costs a fraction of the FusionIO product, this is just staggering. Our file creation test is driven by a single-threaded app, and here the ioDrive has less latency per transaction, combined with a tiny bit of driver-level buffering, which stacks up over the course of purely sequential file IO's.
Take another look at that file copy test. That's 10GB of files copied *from* and *back to* the same RevoDrive, and the 3 X2 did it in 17 seconds (or less).
