For the review of the Intel Core i7-4770K, we updated our entire suite of CPU benchmarks and thus we have a new set of results to present. The review today of Ivy Bridge-E will continue with that same set of tests.

The latest version of SiSoft Sandra offers up a lot of new features including GPU performance, OpenCL, etc.
Even though the Core i7-5960X has a definitive clock speed disadvantage to the other processors (with a base clock of just 3.0 GHz) the 8-cores more than make up for it. The synthetic CPU tests show a 56% edge over the 4790K, and a 21% edge over the Core i7-4960X. Multimedia performance isn't even close thanks to the inclusion of Haswell's AVX extensions and the doubling of core count over the 4790K: the result is a 56% performance lead over any other CPU in the field.
Raw memory bandwidth numbers look impressive with our first run in at DDR4, even when only operating at 2133 MHz. At 46 GB/s of available bandwidth, the 5960X has a 165% advantage over Haswell and a 39% edge over the quad-channel DDR3 running on the IVB-E platform. And, at least according to Sandra here, the memory latency only increases by 1 ns or so compared to the DDR3 controller in Haswell.
