I want to state right off, that this is not a ‘how-to’ overclocking article. While I do give the examples of how I overclocked and the skills and setups required for the testing in this article, it insufficient for beginners to take this article as a ‘What I Should Do’ look at overclocking your Athlon or Duron processor.

What this is however, is a look at what performance increases you will see when overclocking your AMD Duron processor. We take this measly little Duron 700 MHz processor up to a reasonable 1000 MHz (1 GHz). What you will see in the article is testing and benchmarking of the processor in its overclocked form, all from 700 to 1000 MHz, in 100 MHz increments.

After finishing this article, readers should be able to choose for themselves which processor they want, and what they can expect for the performance of their processor, be it overclocked or not.

Let the games begin.
