If someone would have said to me just a year ago that Shuttle would be on the top performing motherboard manufacturers in the retail market for AMD systems, I probably would have laughed at you. Even though Shuttle has been a part of the computer world for quite a while, their products have been mostly geared towards the OEM and budget systems and were never quite on the program as far as powerful, fast components.


That all changed recently with the release of the Shuttle AK31 motherboard based on the KT266 chipset. As Shuttle's first board for the AMD platform in some time, the AK31 won rave reviews from all over the media. In fact, it was tested here at Amdmb.com to be probably the second fastest KT266 motherboard available, behind Soyo’s option.


Once again Shuttle is making a move, being one of the first out the door with a new board for the KT266A chipset. Heading into the battle, dealing with Epox and then later MSI and Soyo will be a big challenge for Shuttle.
