Iwill KD266 ALi M1649 Motherboard Review

This content was originally featured on Amdmb.com and has been converted to PC Perspective’s website. Some color changes and flaws may appear.

If this were one of the first times you have heard of the KD266 motherboard, it wouldn’t surprise me. Iwill’s launch of the KD266 motherboard has lacked the enthusiasm and push that we saw both with their KA266 and KK266 line of motherboards. There are various reasons behind, which you will see all of as we go through the rest of the review.

Some of you have asked why they haven’t found many ALi MaGiK 1 motherboard reviews on Amdmb.com. The reasoning is that ALi was supposed to be releasing a new stepping of the northbridge of this chipset that would improve where it has pointed to lack at in other reviews. Stability and performance were finally supposed to perfected. However, this has obviously taken longer than they expected, and thus a longer period of time has passed on the site without a look at any of the M1647 northbridge motherboards. The KD266 that is based on the M1649 northbridge is a close cousin to it, however, with just a few subtle, yet important differences.
