Introduction

This content was originally featured on Amdmb.com and has been converted to PC Perspective's website. Some color changes and flaws may appear.

I personally have a long history with Epox and their line of motherboards since their introduction into the Socket 7 world. Many of the systems that sat where my current one is had Epox motherboards in them for several months at a time. Their Slot A motherboard, the EP-7KXA was a decent motherboard, especially for the KX133 chipset. This time, they have a new KT133 chipset motherboard available for the Socket A Thunderbird and Duron processors.

Many might remember their initial try in this category as the 8KTA (which we did not get a chance to review here at Athlonmb.com). The 8KTA+ has some minor modifications that add to the value of the motherboard on the market, so we vied to only test this version from Epox.

Now that we have the board in our testing lab, we are ready to see if the modifications that Epox made can help bring their line of motherboards up on par with some of the other high-end boards that we have seen for the Socket A processors recently, namely the Asus A7V and Abit KT7.
