Introduction and Specifications
Asus has packaged an overclocked X1800 XT with an external power supply, USB game pad and more to create a great enthusiast level graphics card. This might be the fastest single GPU video card we have tested.
Introduction
Asus is never one to disappoint. They are consistently one of the first companies to adopt a new chipset or GPU technology, and more often than not, they deliver a great product in the process. They were the first with an nForce4 SLI X16 motherboard in the form of the A8N32-SLI and the first to offer dual 7800 GT GPUs on a single card in the N7800GT DUAL. Not only first, but a good first; that’s hard to do.
With the release of ATI’s Radeon X1000 series of GPUs, the majority of users, most of the time, have the understanding that ATI makes the only/best video cards made with their own GPUs. Sometimes that’s the case, but ATI’s list of partners has been expanding, and as such, there are more options for ATI users than there used to be. The Asus AX1800XT TOP that we are reviewing today is one of the more unique products to use the X1800 GPU as it comes with both an external power supply and is overclocked right out of the box.
