AMD Radeon HD 6990 4GB Dual GPU Cayman Graphics Card

Power Consumption and Temperatures

Let's see how this new, power hungry HD 6990 handles the power meter.

Yes, the HD 6990 is fastest card you can buy as of today but you are using a LOT of power to get it done.  At 491 watts it comes it at 92 watts more than the GeForce GTX 580 from NVIDIA.

However, the GTX 570 cards use a lot more power than even the HD 6990 - 123 watts more to be exact!

Temperatures show that the HD 6990 does get quite hot, but considering how much more power it is using than the other single cards configs, the cooling solution on the dual-GPU beast is looking good.  And when we consider the other dual-card options, the HD 6990 isn't that much hotter either.
