When VIA stopped by, they told me not to expect a very large increase in 3D gaming performance due to the Athlon XP processors being the bottleneck and not the memory bus in this case. While that may be true in most cases, the increases we are seeing at the lower resolution are actually quite impressive. A FPS of 258 with a standard GeForce3 card is outstanding! That is nearly 10% faster than the KT266A powered Abit KR7A-RAID motherboard and 15% faster than the nForce chipset.

As the resolution increases, we see this gain decrease. At 1024x768, the lead of the KT333 is only about 5.5% but it is still in the lead. At the 1600x1200 resolution we see the video card and AGP drivers taking over and the NVIDIA chipset is able to pull ever so slightly ahead.
