NZXT HALE90 850W Power Supply Review
A Detailed Look
The steel enclosure of the NZXT HALE90 850W power supply features a gloss-white finish with black fan grill and connectors for a fresh new look and measures 180mm (7.1”) long. The HALE series PSUs use a single 140mm fan on the bottom for cooling. The fan speed is automatically controlled by the internal component temperature (speeds up as the combined load and temperature increases) via an onboard speed controller. The NZXT labeled 140mm fan is rated for 0.4A when operating on 12 VDC and incorporates dual ball-bearings. Note the plastic shroud that helps divert airflow thru the PSU and out the back.
The backside panel includes a power receptacle and On-Off switch along with an open grill structure that allows air to exhaust out of the power supply with minimal restriction and turbulence.
The NZXT HALE90 850W PSU comes with a good assortment of fixed and modular cables, which are covered with plastic mesh sleeving. All of the modular cables use the flat ribbon style wires, which are intended to make cable management easier and help improve airflow. The 850W model features eight modular sockets that provide power to the peripheral device and PCI-E cables.
