Koolance Exos-2 Liquid Cooling System Review

In addition to the Exos-2, the large, colorfully printed box also contains a 26-page User's Manual, plastic tubing, a bag of Koolance coolant, a PCI slot adapter circuit board (with three temperature sensors), ATX power switch pass-through cable, an external power cable, four rubber feet, a power supply connector jumper wire, and a small funnel for filling the reservoir.


 



 


As we mentioned before, the Exos-2 does not normally come with any waterblocks.  Individual coolers must be purchased separately for all of the devices to be cooled inside the computer (CPU, GPU, HDD, etc) by the Exos-2 liquid cooling system.


 


Fans


 


The Exos-2 uses two 120mm fans, which are clearly visible from the top.  (The previous Exos used three 80mm fans.)  The fans draw cool room air in thru the slot-openings on the sides and bottom of the chassis and exhaust air out the top.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />


 



 


The Koolance labeled fans have 7 blades and are protected by nicely integrated wire fan guards.  The fans can be controlled automatically based on an assigned temperature input or adjusted manually for maximum flexibility in balancing performance and noise.

Reservoir


 


Just in front of the two fans is a clear plastic reservoir with a threaded fill port sealed with an O-ring.  The reservoir contains blue LEDs, which light up during operation and make it easy to check the coolant level as well as adding a KOOL look to the system.


 



 


Pumps


 


Inside the reservoir are two Koolance 12 VDC, submersible pumps.  The pumps are connected in series and produce the necessary differential pressure to create fluid flow thru the system.  Koolance's push-pull pump configuration allows the Exos-2 to work effectively with multiple waterblocks.
