Introduction and Features

The Enermax MODU87+ 900W is a high output PSU with excellent efficiency, good voltage regulation, clean outputs, and it comes with modular cables. And for a 900W PSU it is very quiet. Check out our review of the latest PSU that can power your next high-end gaming rig!
Introduction

Enermax has a well earned reputation for delivering reliable power supplies, enclosures, and other accessories to the PC enthusiast market.  Enermax recently added two more PSUs to the upper end of their MODU87+ series, which now includes five power supplies ranging from 500W to 900W.  One of the unique features built into the MODU87+ line is what Enermax refers to as Dynamic Hybrid Transformer Topology (DHT).  The focus of DHT is to dynamically change the operating voltage and frequency in the AC side of the PSU to help maximize overall efficiency.  And as you will see later on in this review, the MODU87+ 900W PSU proved to be very efficient and quiet.

PSU Testing Methodology

Establishing an accurate load is critical to testing and evaluating a PC power supply.  PCPerspective’s power supply test bench can place a precise 2,000 watt DC load on the PSU under test.  Each power supply is tested under controlled, real-world conditions up to its maximum rated load, using both 115 VAC and 240 VAC line voltage.  Our current suite of tests includes:

•    DC Load Regulation
•    DC Line Regulation
•    DC Cross-load (unbalanced load)
•    AC Ripple and Noise
•    Power Factor
•    Efficiency
•    Differential Temperature
•    Noise
