Stop in to see tons of photos of the incredibly unique design as well as an evaluation of the installation process and more! Case and Cooling - Dec 15, 2009 | 12:00 AM Silverstone is one of the few vendors who hasn't left the SFF crowd hang out to dry. I've reviewed every SFF case they have developed over the past few years, and their latest addition to the popular Sugo series is the SG06. This case shares many features with its older brother the SG05, but includes some new wrinkles to the front bezel design as well as support for solid state drives and larger third-party heatsinks. Case and Cooling - Dec 07, 2009 | 12:00 PM PC cases, for the most part, stick to basic reference designs that many vendors have adopted and supported over the years. While we've seen some creativity being incorporated into production cases, most are not what I would call "totally unique". Thankfully, the folks over at NZXT are continuing to push the boundaries of conventional PC enclosure design and a perfect example of this is the Panzerbox. Case and Cooling - Dec 01, 2009 | 12:00 PM Finally – a new power supply with innovative design changes that raises the bar for others to follow. Seasonic's new X Series sports all modular cables and delivers excellent voltage regulation, high efficiency and can operate in silent, fan-less mode (at lower power levels). Case and Cooling - Nov 17, 2009 | 12:00 AM The new TX950W is targeted towards value conscious users who want a quiet, high-capacity power supply that provides stable outputs and high efficiency. Once again, Corsair delivers! Case and Cooling - Oct 19, 2009 | 11:00 AM PC Power & Cooling's latest Silencer PSU delivers over 900W of clean, stable power with excellent efficiency at an affordable price. However, don't let the name fool you; this PSU is far from silent. Case and Cooling - Oct 15, 2009 | 11:00 AM Enermax has released a mid-tower ATX case called the Staray for those budget users looking for a bit of flare and awesome cooling. This case features three 120mm "apollish" fans that have two different types of LED lighting patterns as well as glossy red fan blades that can be removed for cleaning. They claim these fans will shine up to four times brighter than traditional LED fans so it will be interesting to see them in action. Case and Cooling - Oct 12, 2009 | 11:00 AM Good efficiency and virtually silent! If you are looking for a quiet mid-power PSU with good voltage regulation, good efficiency, high-end video card support and fixed cables; the ECO 80+ 620W deserves a close look. Case and Cooling - Oct 06, 2009 | 11:00 AM Silverstone has really been one of the premier PC enclosure manufacturers for several years now and they always seem to be finding different ways to handle all types of platforms from ATX, micro ATX, and even mini ATX cases. Their newest creation is the RV02, which builds upon the original Raven case, but adds a few new wrinkles to its design and construction. The new Raven 2 is smaller, lighter, and Silverstone claims it outperforms the original Raven. Case and Cooling - Sep 26, 2009 | 03:00 PM We've evaluated numerous CPU coolers from a variety of established vendors that include the likes of Zalman, CoolerMaster, and Thermalright. But, today we are treading off the beaten path a bit to review a CPU cooler from a relatively unknown entity called Prolimatech. This Taiwan-based company was founded in 2008 and their one and only CPU cooler that supports Intel's LGA 1366 socket is dubbed the Megahalem. Case and Cooling - Sep 20, 2009 | 05:00 PM Corsair is known for high quality and enthusiast friendly memory products and now the company is attempting to bring that mindset to the world of computer cases. The Obsidian 800D is a big case that has plenty of room for water cooling, implements a classy cable management system and even adds a 4 drive hot-swap SATA bay. Case and Cooling - Sep 14, 2009 | 12:00 PM A lot of PC cases and enclosures made from steel, aluminum, and acrylic pass by my test bench. The modding community has also used other materials like carbon fiber to create custom cases that met their specific needs. But, I can't think of one vendor that creates production cases using wood until nMediaPC gave us a call about their HTPC 8000 case. nMediaPC dubs their HTPC 8000 as the world's first wooden HTPC case, and to my knowledge I think they are right. Let's see if this organic creation can start a new trend in the HTPC case market. Case and Cooling - Sep 01, 2009 | 07:00 PM Kingwin now offers six new power supply units in their Mach 1 series, ranging in output capacities from 600W all the way up 1,220W. The ABT-1000MA1S PSU we have up for review comes with a full compliment of modular cables, a 140mm fan, and is certified for high efficiency (80 Plus Bronze) and is nVIDIA SLI Ready. The Kingwin 1,000W modular power supply offers plenty of power with lots of bling at an affordable price, which all adds up to good value. Case and Cooling - Aug 27, 2009 | 09:00 AM The EVO 1,250W PSU delivers a lot of power with good regulation, good efficiency, and plenty of cables/connectors. This monster is about as big as you will be able to operate from a standard 120 VAC, 15A residential circuit in NA. Case and Cooling - Aug 24, 2009 | 07:00 PM While we've seen more than our fair share of heatsinks based strictly off copper or aluminum fin arrays and heatpipes, we haven't seen that many with dual-fan heat exhaust systems. ASUS just happened to make one called the Triton 81, which is on our review bench today. This heatsink has a four-way airflow design and dual fans that ASUS claims will make it very useful for overclocking. We'll pit the Triton 81 against some of our favorite high-end heatsinks to determine how well this 695g beast can handle the heat of our Intel Q8400 LGA 775 processor. Case and Cooling - Jul 29, 2009 | 07:31 PM This particular case is nearly unique when it comes to the HTPC market. While most others are designed to blend into a typical component stack in the home theater, this case stands by itself in terms of style and capabilities. Will it fit in with the HTPC crowd? A very good question. Case and Cooling - Jul 27, 2009 | 02:00 PM CoolIT Systems has built a reputation for bringing liquid cooling to the masses. With its various, integrated, sealed-unit liquid coolers, it has removed the need for amassing radiators, hoses, reservoirs, water blocks, and other miscellany and then assembling them into a working system free of air and contaminants. Case and Cooling - Jul 24, 2009 | 12:00 PM Thermaltake continues to evolve their Toughpower line with the XT Series, which adds LED status indicators and a fan delay feature. This new PSU delivers excellent voltage regulation and good efficiency but struggles with AC ripple under heavy loads. Case and Cooling - Jul 15, 2009 | 04:00 PM Corsair's new Hydro H50 cooler isn't really a new development in the world of water cooling - completely contained, no maintenance water cooling systems. But with Corsair pushing the H50 brand along, users have another option for their system cooling needs. The H50 is just as easy to install as most high-end air coolers but offers improved performance. Check out our video review inside! Case and Cooling - Jul 14, 2009 | 10:00 AM Today, we have the second revision of NZXT's Zero case called the Zero 2. NZXT went back to the drawing board and developed a steel chassis to give the case a lot more stability and rigidness that most PC builders look for when building a new system. The new chassis uses 1.0mm steel, which bumps the entire weight of the case to 10.2 kilograms, which is roughly 22.4 lbs. That's a pretty big different from the original Zero that weighed in at 7.35 kilograms or 16.2 lbs. Let's see if the extra durability is enough to entice consumers to this full tower case. Case and Cooling - Jul 10, 2009 | 10:00 AM With several different CPU socket types currently on the market, it maybe difficult to find a decent third-party heatsink that will meet a power user's overclocking and cooling needs. While there are numerous cooling solutions available, Zalman's CNPS10X Extreme might be one to consider with its support for LGA 1156, 1366, 775, AM3, and AM2+. They also threw in a removable fan controller that can be mounted outside of the case. Let's see if this heatsink can take the air cooling crown away from its older brother the CNPS9900 LED. Case and Cooling - Jun 29, 2009 | 12:00 PM The new SilverStone ST70EF PSU is designed for user's who are looking for high efficiency along with quiet operation. It can support multiple high-end graphics adapters and features a full compliment of fixed cables. Case and Cooling - Jun 22, 2009 | 12:00 AM The Fatal1ty 700W PSU from OCZ is a high-quality PSU that looks good inside and out. It was co-developed by a gamer for gamers and it delivers the goods! The OCZ Fatal1ty 700W unit we have up for review today features a single +12V rail and is both Nvidia SLI and 80 Plus certified. It features excellent cooling and comes decked out with a red LED fan, glowing Fatal1ty logo, and red sheathed cables (I hope you like red). Case and Cooling - Jun 02, 2009 | 11:45 AM This does seem to be the year of great cases at Computex. Thermaltake partnered with BMW Designworks USA to bring to life a truly unique chassis design that looks like a million bucks - let's just hope it doesn't cost that as well! Case and Cooling - May 31, 2009 | 05:00 AM Creating an enclosure that can minimize space, but still leave PC builders enough room to work with and possibly grow is a difficult task. The introduction of Mini, Nano, and Pico ATX motherboards have given consumers the power of a desktop PC in the palm of their hands. One company who’s had success creating SFF cases is SilverStone. Their Sugo series has been refined over the past several years, and their SST-SG05B is the latest addition to the Sugo product line. Case and Cooling - May 26, 2009 | 12:00 PM High efficiency and virtually silent! If you are looking for a quiet mid-power PSU with good voltage regulation, excellent efficiency, and high-end video card support; the ECO 500W deserves a very close look. |
