Here is a nice interactive chart of many of the waterblocks that are available today, expressed as the delta between CPU and water temp, by flow rates.  This week, the water cooling based reviews dried up a little.  To make up for it, here are coolers designed for your RAM, HDD, your ears and your lap.  Also included, one of the oddest 5.25' bay inserts I have ever seen, if you are a car lover, it's worth looking at.

AMD Reports Second Quarter Results

SUNNYVALE, CA -- July 14, 2004 --AMD (NYSE: AMD) today reported sales of $1.262 billion and net income of $32 million for the quarter ended June 27, 2004. Net income amounted to $0.09 per diluted share.

Second quarter sales increased by 96 percent from the second quarter of 2003 and increased by two percent from the first quarter of 2004. In the second quarter of 2003, AMD reported sales of $645 million and a net loss of $140 million, or $0.40 per share.

Intel Second-Quarter Revenue $8.05 Billion

SANTA CLARA, Calif., July 13, 2004 - Intel Corporation today announced second-quarter revenue of $8.05 billion, approximately flat sequentially and up 18 percent year-over-year.

Second-quarter net income was $1.8 billion, flat sequentially and up 96 percent year-over-year.

New AMD64 Processors May Deliver Higher Performance

It appears that two new Athlon 64 processors, codenamed Oakville and Winchester are reportedly faster than current versions.  Though AMD is pretty hush hush about the whole thing, it seems that 90nm fabrication process may see light of day in these two cores.  AMD has yet to disclose any time frames on these new developments.

AMD and Linux: Reaching For The 64-bit Trophy

Without a viable 64-bit Windows operating system, 64-bit enthusiasts have turned to Linux to provide a possible solution.  Anandtech has taken the two largest 64-bit Linux distros, and the Windows 64-bit OS for a test drive.  The test machine being driven by none other than the Athlon 64 3500+ Secket 939.  The results may surprise you. 


One quick note, make sure you pay attention to what means better performance on the graphs, on several of them, the best performers had the smallest numbers.  e.g.

Intel Ships 3.60GHz Processors

Intel has begun shipping its Pentium 4 3.60GHz processors as of two days ago, though most had not reached most vendors until yesterday or today.  The Processors, also known as Pentium 4 560 features HT (Hyper-Threading) and SSE3 technologies and is comes in LGA775 form-factor.  Though it is selling for $720 and up, stock is not readily available.
