HotHardware got a sneak peek and some pictures of the monstrous Radeon X1950 Pro Dual card, combining 2 GPUS and a total of 1GB of RAM in SLI, on one card. With one, you will have good graphics, and Sapphire is working on getting a pair to work together, giving you one half of AMD's upcoming 4x4 systems.

Tech Spot has posted a CES 2007 gallery that will give you a glimpse of the size of the expo, and lots of juicy pictures of new tech. They also get a look at Crysis and some immersive games from Intel.

The Tech Report kicks off CES 2007 with a look at ATI's newest TV Wonder, which features some nice HD capability. Using OCUR (Open Cable Unidirectional Receiver), a standard for digital cable tuners that cable companies use, you will be able to plug in a CableCard and record or watch. Most interestingly, this is not really designed as a standard graphics card, it sits in it's own case and connects via USB 2.0.

I am sitting in my hotel room now, overlooking the Las Vegas convention center, preparing for the next day's meetings. I have already seen quite a few things that are pretty interesting, but rather than throw something up that is full of nearly-asleep errors, I'll save them for tomorrow afternoon. :)

The need for speed and the trouble with DDR2

One thing that The Inquirer took away from IDF was a discussion with Corsair about the difficulty of making high speed DDR2 DIMMs. It turns out that the reason most DDR2 for sale is 667MHz is because it is really hard to make DIMMs that run properly at 800MHz, not to mention the Domiantor series coming out at 1111MHz.

I am currently sitting in my hotel room, several blocks from the San Francisco convention center (Moscone), awaiting the beginnings of the Fall 2006 Intel Developer Forum. What can you expect here? Two words: quad core. Yep, its going to be every where; in fact I already saw it last night and a pre-IDF press meeting. There they showed off a Kentsfield core processor and a new quad-threaded gaming engine created by Futuremark call "Ice Storm Fighters". Hopefully they come
