AnandTech has found two SandyBridge boards for under $200, the ASUS P8P67 Pro and the Gigabyte P67A-UD4. The ASUS board sports an implementation of UEFI while the Gigabyte uses a modified BIOS to handle large capacity drives. The ASUS board also packs on overclocking features and a USB 3.0 bracket, making the

The Tech Report examines the new P67 Express
chipset which sports 6Gbps Serial ATA ports and full-speed PCI Express 2.0 lanes. This makes it very competitive against AMD's boards which have sported both those features for a while now. Their testing showed better transfer performance over the SATA channel than AMD's 890GX chipset and a significant jump from the P55 chipset, when connected to a PCIe RAID card. Also of note was the CPU utilization, which was much higher on the AMD platform.

You are going to see a lot of P67 chipset based board reviews over the next quarter as each motherboard maker is planning on releasing a lot of variants, some numbering several dozen when you include specialized OEM boards. Choice is not a bad thing but you are going to want to research the various choices carefully and not let yourself get overwhelmed by the model numbers. One solid choice is the ASUS P8P67 WS Revolution
which combines the P67 chipset with the NF200 bridge chip which will allow properly support for Quad CrossFireX as well as 3-way and 2-way SLI.

MSI held a press conference on Tuesday night that showcased new Sandy Bridge notebooks as well as the company's motherboards based on the P67 and H67 chipsets. The stars of the party though were the new P67-based Big Bang Marshal motherboard with no less than eight (8!!) x16 PCIe slots! They didn't want to tell us what chips were at work to create all of these lanes of traffic - can't help but wonder if this is NVIDIA nForce 200 magic or something new and potentially more interesting.

In a press conference centered around the Intel Sandy Bridge and the supporting desktop motherboard and notebooks that MSI is introducing, we caught sight of a slightly hidden motherboard. There really hasn't been a whole lot from AMD about the upcoming AM3+ socket architecture, but today was the first sight of a high end 990FX motherboard from MSI.

Manufacturers certainly are proud of the new P67 and H67 motherboards that will house the new Sandy Bridge CPUs, when they finally arrive. We have seen previews of boards every major manufacturer, which may not give us much in the way of hard benchmarks but do give us a very good idea of the features they will sport. You can get teased over at PC Stats as they preview one of Gigabyte's soon to be released P67 boards.

If you haven't had a chance to peek at an H67 powered Sandy Bridge motherboard, then take a moment to head to PC Stats. They give a run down of what features this new chipset will sport but unfortunately no one is allowed to release Sandy Bridge results so this is not a true review. You will get an idea of what part of the next generation of Intel motherboards will be like.

When it comes to Intel boards, the ASUS ROG series provides with their new ASUS Rampage III Formula. As we are all quite familiar with the capabilities of the X58 chipset, there are new features to draw people towards one implementation over another. In this case ASUS has gone for a long list of features, some of the newer ones include ROG Connect, Probe IT to help check voltages, a hybrid PWM configuration and dual BIOS ROMs you can swi

ASUS has extended their Republic of Gamers AMD motherboard lineup with the Crosshair IV Formula, latest in a family of highly overclockable motherboards. There is a reason this is one of the more expensive AM3 boards on the market, four PCIe 16x slots are available along with a large array of ports including a pair of USB 3.0 ports and the ROG Connect. That last port allows you to change the settings on the motherboard using a second PC.&nbs

If you are looking for high density computer power, how about the power of the X58 chipset on a mATX board in the form of the ASUS Rampage III Gene, perhaps the smallest member of the Republic of Gamers series. To prove just how capable this board is [H]ard|OCP broke out their watercooling rig to see how far they could overclock on this board, which is rather impressive

If you want to build an H55 based SFF system your choice of motherboard has been rather limited. Gigabyte is offering you another choice now, their H55N-USB3 will handle LGA1156 CPUs, DDR3 up to 2200MHz, USB 3.0 and even a rather unique USB charging port. The board pried a Gold Award from Steve, check out how it managed such high accolades here.

The Asus Rampage III Gene and the Sabertooth are both X58
boards, but have implemented that chipset in very different ways. The Rampage III Gene is an mATX board, just like its predecessors and the Sabertooth is a member of the TUF series. The TUF series are designed to a variety of military specs, the capacitors, chokes, and MOSFETs have much higher resistance to moisture and temperature and that shows in the 5 year warranty offered, as opposed to the 3 years for the Rampage. See them both at The Tech Report<
