Touting another industry first, ECS is still showing off their upcoming PF88 motherboard that allows users to use either an Intel Pentium processor based on the LGA775 socket or a 939-pin AMD processor at their choice. It does NOT allow for usage models like running both processors at the same time, but it does attempt to helps users deal with the constantly changing processor socket platforms from both Intel and AMD.
Using a technology they are calling the "Elite Bus", ECS has setup a serial connection between the processor bridge card and other components on the mainb
ECS KN1 Extreme nForce4 Ultra Review

HardOCP has posted a review of the ECS KN1 Extreme board based on the nForce4 Ultra chipset for the AMD platform. We are working on a board review of this solution as well.
Let's preface this by saying that this is the first ECS motherboard review we have ever completed. In the past, we have tried to review ECS' boards but they have failed so miserably in our testing that we did not see the reason to spend the resources to complete a review on them. That was, however, several years ago.

For those of you looking for an Nforce 4 board, you might want to check out the review of the Chaintech VNF4 Zenith VE over at MBreview.
"Overall, we were pleased with the BIOS that Chaintech has chosen to utilize with the VNF4 Zenith VE. Given that the board really isn't geared towards the high-end crowd, I was slightly surprised to see the voltage adjustment capabilities that we found.

The gang at Sudhian has reviewed the Gigabyte nForce4 SLI AMD chipset motherboard and seemed to be pretty impressed. You can see my review of a similar Gigabyte SLI board with more features here.
It might sound odd coming from a reviewer, but I'd like to give this board a better score. I like the feature set, I like the price, and I like how Gigabyte is obviously t

The gang at Hexus.net has a review up of the MSI motherboard powered by the Intel Edition of the nForce4 SLI chipset.
The SLI performance problem that the likes of Dell would inevitably gloss over, but has been graphically (pun intended) shown on the previous few pages is squarely down to Pentium 4s' relatively weak gaming performance that's exhibited at lower resolutions and/or with games that rely on masses of subsystem grunt.

The EPoX EP-9NPA+SLI is a very strong contender in the increasingly crowded SLI market. What sets this board apart from the rest is the great feature set and the cheaper price.

Performance-wise, the GA-8I955X Royal was able to perform as well and in some cases outperform the Intel 925XE Express reference board, meeting our expectations for the new chipset. It also showed some exceptional performance in the hard drive subsystem testing.
Dual Core Will Not Increase Mobo Sales
Subject: Motherboards | May 15, 2005 - 10:59 PM | Ryan Shrout

It looks like some motherboard vendors are predicting a stagnant market even with both AMD and Intel pushing dual core processors to anyone and everyone. With the AMD X2's only needing a BIOS update and Pentium D platform pretty high on the price scale, this makes a lot of sense.
However, AMD's new dual-core Athlon64 X2 CPUs will be Socket 939 solutions, and can be supported by current K8 motherboards, which will only need to have their BIOS upgraded, the makers said.
nForce4 SLI Intel Edition Not Living Up to Claims?

The Inquirer seems to have reason to believe that the nForce4 SLI Intel Edition is living up to claims NVIDIA made for it and increased gaming performance. They are also asking for retail motherboard reviews, which I will have one here for you on Monday or Tuesday. I am going to have to disagree with their statements though, as our game testing on NVIDIA's SLI technology on the Intel platform did in fact show some reasonable performance gains.&nb

Damn, I feel important just reading a Royal motherboard review! The board reviewed here is based on Intel's 955X chipset that supports dual core processors as well as the latest single core products. l
Regarding the 8I955X-Royal, Gigabyte certainly has a board that's big on features and great on stability. We thought that the performance was a bit lacking in some areas and overclocking wasn't as great as we've experienced with other boards in the past.

I am sure many of you remember the trouble that Abit found itself in financially when they came under investigation by the Taiwan version of the SEC, but now things seem to be looking up for the motherboard manufacturer. A new investor in the form of the CEO of the largest transportation group in Taiwan, has put in enough of of his own money to become a majority share holder. Now, I don't know what affect this is going to have on the company in general, their product lines or anything, but we'll be meeting with them extensivel
