The last time Sony sold an AMD notebook, 400GB spindle hard drives were still considered “huge”, Apple announced it was moving to Intel processors,  and Firefox was still wearing diapers!

It’s been 5 years since Sony had an AMD product to show and today they’re returning to the party with a new 15.4″ model with 4GB RAM and a BD-Rom drive for $650, and a 17.3″ with a larger hard drive for $720. Both feature AMD Athlon II X2 P320 2.1GHz CPUs, and both have an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 GPUs.

For those of you who have always wanted a Sony designed notebook but balked at the Sony designed price, these new AMD systems may the right thing for you.

You can grab these new notebooks from Fry’s and BestBuy.
