OnePlus is a Chinese smartphone company founded by Pete Lau, formerly the Vice President at Oppo. Their first phone was basically invite-only for most of its lifespan, but that was justified for a flagship-quality phone at $299 USD. The OnePlus One was first available in April 2014. Their follow-up is the OnePlus 2, go figure, which will be formally announced on July 27th.
Several announcements lead up to that date, though. One day, OnePlus stated that the announcement will be done in VR, and they are selling Google Cardboard for “free” outside of the $5 shipping fee. Another day, they announced that the price will be “under $450 USD”. Today, they announced that the OnePlus Two will have 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM, matching the capacity of the ASUS ZenPhone 2. It will also contain the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, which should be able to support OpenGL ES 3.1 and Vulkan (whenever that arrives).
It makes you wonder what's left for July 27th, besides the release date. My guess is that day.
I bought the their first
I bought the their first phone and loved it save for the camera. It was bad. If they can improve the camer then I’m in.
actauly their camera is great
actauly their camera is great is their software that sucks
I’m looking at this as my
I’m looking at this as my next upgrade (from a G3). I’m not looking forward however to having to fight for an invite or similar. Just let me buy your phone, please.
I’ve owned a OnePlus One
I’ve owned a OnePlus One since December 2014 and, while initially pretty great, it’s been worse and worse with each update. From crazy battery drain to touch screen issues to almost useless support I just don’t see a reason to support them.
The original phone and company line seemed promising but they’ve failed on every level. Now with the choice of the Snapdragon 810 and this lame trickle of information I don’t see them changing at all.
yep as soon as i whent too
yep as soon as i whent too cyanogen 12 battery when to crap but it took a while to stabalize itself now battery is bck to normal
OnePlus is on the forefront
OnePlus is on the forefront of stupid marketing. Remember when they had people take videos of themselves smashing good NEW smartphones for a chance at getting the first one? And now a free $5 VR announcement!
To clarify, not “stupid
To clarify, not “stupid marketing” as in it does not work, marketing to stupid people, like Redditors and the audience of vlogs / prank / fail videos on the YouTube main page. So very successful marketing, unfortunately.
450 USD? No thanks. That’s
450 USD? No thanks. That’s almost as expensive as the other flagship phones out there.
DID I JUST SAW IT SAID lp
DID I JUST SAW IT SAID lp DDR4???????

The VR is pretty cheapoid but
The VR is pretty cheapoid but cool enough to justify at this price. I went through Versailles, a ship and some woods on an HTC One with these goggles- it was okay.
I like the LGs and I’m not sure how much sense it makes to have already paid for a G3 and then trade it across for this …?
At any rate- this should be an interesting launch.
