Keep your gaming laptop cool with the CM Storm SF-17

If you have a high powered gaming notebook you have probably learned not to put it directly on your lap while gaming.  This somewhat limits the comfortable positions that you can use the notebook in and in some cases requires you to prop the notebook in an awkward position to ensure you don't overheat the machine.  The new CM Storm SF-17 is a smart alternative to roasting your expensive machine with a 180mm fan to move hot air away from your machine.  Check out what Overclockers Club thought of this notebook cooler in their full review.

"Cooler Master did a good job with the CM Storm SF-17 Gaming Notebook Cooler. Great build quality and looks that will definitely appeal to the those that like a rugged style make this cooler very unique. The fan speed control is a welcome feature that will enable users to bring down the generated noise to acceptable levels. And the four height adjustment settings provide some flexibility depending on your typing style. The anti-slip material used on this cooler is simply great; even at the highest setting the laptop did not move the slightest. Finally, the cable management integration is more efficient than what was available on other laptop coolers."

I own a high-end gaming laptop which also has it's own set of good fans. However, recently, with warmer temperature, I found my unit not as cool as it used to be.

This was one of the additional devices I wanted to invest into. For my particular system, I am still hesitant about this devices.

Cons from the review:
- No wall power adapter included
- Vibration
- Noise at high fan speeds
- No USB3
- Limited portability

Additional Cons:
- Bottom Light Effect (not practical and not energy efficient)

New laptops don't have the screen/lid open angle greater than 100 degrees. Which makes the adjustable angle height of the CM Storm SF-17 not very useful.

Other thoughts; will it provide efficient cooler where it's needed and not fight the current fans?

At the end, I do like Cooler Master products, but this one doesn't seem to be right in price and features for today's needs. Cut the price in half and take it home. Otherwise, a pass.

And most high-end gaming laptops aren't used on your lap. With additional height, an additional keyboard and mouse is required (wired/wireless).

This post is amazing as millions user interested to gain advantage over their gaming laptops as in my opinion this will help a lot as these are stabilized with advanced technology to solve the heating problems as one of my child had own it to utilize the time in more better way, but I prefer the business laptops for my business as one of them I brought that provide me more efficient as these rugged will not consist the fan option because heat is evolved through the Chassis, as sometimes I manage to play games through them because of high processing power and ability as compared to the normal one.
