Those who thought NVIDIA's new MXM mobile PCI-Express module would make life a bit easier for laptop vendors are in for a suprise. Apparently, ATI is on the verge of announcing their own module. No word yet on how the two designs will differ, though we expect to have much more information in the very near future.

ATI Technologies, in response to Nvidia's 'welcome', indicated that the company has already developed a PCI Express support module architecture, named AXIOM; and the company will dedicate full support to push the proposed AXIOM module in the coming days, according to the vice president Billy Wang of ATI Asia-Pacific.
