Google for your Desktop

I installed this Desktop Google on my machine this morning and have been VERY impressed with this thus far.  It basically takes the same technology that Google for the web uses and applies it to the data on your hard drive.  It makes an index of all the contents of all the files and supports the MS Office line of products and well as AOL IM and others.

Intel Third-quarter Revenue $8.5 Billion

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Oct. 12, 2004 - Intel Corporation today announced third-quarter revenue of $8.5 billion, up 5 percent sequentially and up 8 percent year-over-year.

Third-quarter net income was $1.9 billion, up 8 percent sequentially and up 15 percent year-over-year. Earnings per share were 30 cents, up 11 percent sequentially and up 20 percent from 25 cents in the third quarter of 2003.

SUNNYVALE, CA -- October 13, 2004 --Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NYSE: AMD) today announced that it intends to offer $600,000,000 in principal amount of Senior Notes due 2012 pursuant to Rule 144A and Regulation S under the Securities Act of 1933, as amended.

AMD intends to use the net proceeds generated from the offering, together with existing cash, to prepay the full amount owed by the company's indirect wholly-owned German subsidiary, AMD Saxony Limited Liability Company & Co. KG, under its existing term loan.

SUING MACHINE, the RIAA is on the legal defensive after a P2P software company has accused it of nicking its technology.

Altnet is suing the RIAA and several of its partners of pirating its patent covering technology for identifying requested files on a P2P network.

SUNNYVALE, CA -- July 14, 2004 --AMD (NYSE: AMD) today reported sales of $1.262 billion and net income of $32 million for the quarter ended June 27, 2004. Net income amounted to $0.09 per diluted share.

Second quarter sales increased by 96 percent from the second quarter of 2003 and increased by two percent from the first quarter of 2004. In the second quarter of 2003, AMD reported sales of $645 million and a net loss of $140 million, or $0.40 per share.
