The new and not quite as pretty as advertised Witcher is here from CD Projekt RED, available from GoG among other places. Rock, Paper, SHOTGUN have started another one of their ongoing diaries to share their experiences, so far involving a bare bum and the amazing Tutorial Man. They also went straight for the dream sequence right off the bat; a smart move to get that over and done with in the early stages. There will be more, as this is a very large game. If you are looking for more details on graphics settings than to turn off Vidal Sasson, there is a post here discussing the options they used as well as the links below.
"I shall instead run a (mostly) in-character diary series covering my adventures in, presumably, just the earlier stages of CDP’s saucy roleplayer. But for the record, it runs OK if I turn Fancy Hair off but it has crashed twice so far."

Got mine running at a solid, capped 40fps on High @1080p
i5-3570K 4.1GHz and GTX 960 2GB
I can’t believe how little VRAM this game uses – love it!

I agree! I have a i7 4770k at 4GHz and R9 290 and I with everything maxed at 1080p I am only at 2.1GB of VRAM. I also get 55fps at max settings with the hair off, but there is a new fix for AMD users involving changing the tessellation in the CCC. Look it up for those interested.
Yeah I definitely leave the
Yeah I definitely leave the HairWorks off – makes everyone and everything look like they conditioned and blowdried 5 minutes ago… Plus it has 8xMSAA built-in O_O
Check your texture
Check your texture resolution! I used the “high” setting too and later found that my texture resolution was set to “low”… wtf?
Yeah it defaulted mine to low
Yeah it defaulted mine to low after updating to 1.03 – caught it though
thing runs solid maxed out at
thing runs solid maxed out at 1080p on gtx970, but i’ve had more then a couple crashes… gonna fidle more with settings, something must be causing it

Runs Great on high with a 3770k and 780 on a 2k monitor. I get between 35 and 40 runs pretty solid. Really pleased with this game.
Runs great at 60fps without
Runs great at 60fps without hairworks on my GTX980 but Nvidia’s latest game ready driver for Witcher 3 is causing a ton of driver timeout detection and recovery error crashes on non 3D apps like Chrome and one or two Witcher 3 crashes.
Looks like I’m not the only one with this

I have some friends with
I have some friends with fx8350 cpu. It’s supose a recomended cpu and they can’t run the game over 40 fps. Gtx970, 8gb…
Anyone else with problems with amd cpu?
Thanks.
i have a amd8350 with a 970
i have a amd8350 with a 970 and 16gb ram no problems here, have everything maxed except hbao+ and it goes up to 60ish depends on where i am in the game.
had some crashing problems, read around and after closing precisionx, unlimiting fps (which i just hadn’t noticed even existed before) all is working well.
The cpu does get darned hot tough, with summer temp of 30C+ it went up to 70C at some point (looking into a new cooler yeah yeah…)
but your friends might be getting some throteling mby?
That is madness that Nvidia
That is madness that Nvidia seems to be getting more crashes than AMD. I havent had one crash on my R9 290. My cynical side is smirking right now.
Good news for AMD is you can lower the crippling 64x tessellation that is on Witcher 3 by going to your CCC and making a profile. All the way at the bottom of the 3D settings is where you change it. Make it 16x or 8x and it still looks just as good and I got an instant 15 FPS bump from 16X
Two GTX in SLI run it around
Two GTX in SLI run it around 70FPS average once I got the weird v-sync issues sorted out. For some reason, although the GPU usage for both cards stays high, whenever I enable v-sync I get a horrible micro-stutter. Also, the v-sync and frame rate limiter both target 60hz which is annoying on a 75hz panel. Thankfully I don’t notice any tearing with it disabled.
Is anybody else having trouble getting it to go full screen? Mine seems to be locked on borderless.
Two GTX what? 980’s? 970’s?
Two GTX what? 980’s? 970’s? 780’s?
How come pcper hasn’t blazed
How come pcper hasn’t blazed W3WH FCAT benchies on SLI & XFire setups yet? BTW, how’d you go getting the non-Nvidia toolchain for it – like you promised?
Hairworks is fucking joke
Hairworks is fucking joke even on nvidia what is the point you lose over 30fps with one stupid option.
This is on 2 980s 1.5Ghz and 5960x 4.5Ghz
Nvidia needs to make tech that take next to no performance hits then boost about their product.
Ive read they are purposely make it harder on performance to purposely cripple AMD if this is the case then cut the shit it even makes your hardware look like ass.
ignore this i set hairworks
ignore this i set hairworks to MSAA 4x much better
