Blackberry has abandoned the Priv, calling it somewhat of an expensive mistake not only because of the investment costs but also because it was priced well above what consumers are willing to pay for a phone. They will be developing a new Android device which is intended to sell at $400, in line with the competitions prices. This also seems to imply that the BB10 OS will no longer be actively developed at Blackberry although they have not stated that for the record. They also haven't disclosed how many Priv's were sold but considering what they told The Register and others it is likely to be well below what they had hoped. They aren't dead yet but they are certainly low on health.
"BlackBerry's CEO has used an interview with United Arab Emirates outlet The National to announce plans to move the troubled mobe-maker's Android efforts downscale."

I don’t see anything that
I don’t see anything that says they are stopping production. Chen is only saying that they will release two midrange phones this year.
Not to mention, it certainly hasn’t been abandoned support-wise, as the Marshmallow beta is in full swing and monthly security updates are still on schedule.
The implication is that they
The implication is that they will release 2 ~$400 phones, so no new $700 Priv.
The support deprecation was in reference to the BB10 OS and the quote "Mr Chen said that while BlackBerry would continue to release updates for BB10, there were no plans to launch new devices running the operating system."
It sounds like it will be supported in the same way previous Windows OSes are 'supported', they won't be putting a lot of resources into it but you will see major problems repaired somewhat.
It's mostly speculation, they are very tight lipped right now.
I want that phone. I have
I want that phone. I have always wanted that phone, I miss having a phisical keyboard soooooooo fucking much. Hate to sound like a vulture but perhaps I can pick one up on clearance on the cheap now, we shall see.
I have tried to buy one
I have tried to buy one myself, but everywhere I went locally either didn’t stock it or didn’t have one on display. It seems like it’s not that no one wanted it but no one wanted to try and sell it. I personally won’t buy a $700 device if I can’t put my hands on it first.
I’ve seen it at T-Mobile
I’ve seen it at T-Mobile stores.
