Another Friday is here, and it’s time to take a peek at the forums. A KVM switch can be a very handy device if you are running a Distributed Computing farm, or just have more PCs than you do monitors. Sure you could fill your house with cheap CRTs, but a KVM switch will cost you less and take up much less space.  If you are finding you or your family spending way too much time on Instant Messenger programs, why not disable them?  A member is having problems with a Linksys router and Vista, and in trying to solve the issues he was having, a very nice visual description of how to set a Static IP was posted.

Over in the Intel Gigabyte forum, a GA-965P was driving a member nuts by POSTing only with 1 GB of RAM, the 2nd would cause it to stop.   Drop by if you are planning to build a C2D system that is similar.  Our resident processor experts explain what effect a dual core CPU has on DVD processing, and why you might experience lag while trying to do other things while it is working.  You can get great info on 120mm fans in the Cases’n’Cooling forum, especially if you are looking for some peace and quiet.  Get a quick smile pondering this guys dilemma, trying to pound a 16x PCIe card into a 8x slot.  Pick up some info on DVD writers in the Storage forum, you don’t need to pay an arm and a leg to get good quality.

Vista’s ReadyBoost has not really been tested by many people, but this thread can tell you quite a bit about it.  You can also learn how to incorporate a LOT of different programs directly into a Windows disk by looking through this thread.

Tune in next week for even more great threads.
