SUPERCOMM, Chicago, June 22, 2004 – Intel Corporation announced today that Huawei Technologies and Korea Telecom are developing Intel-based modular communications solutions for wireline and wireless network infrastructure. This adds to the growing list of telecommunication equipment manufacturers (TEMs) and service providers that have moved away from specialized and costly proprietary systems toward adopting standards-based platforms to deliver new services with faster time-to-revenue at more affordable costs. These manufacturers and providers build communications gear that enables consumers to have a full range of services from basic phone connections to the latest wireless trends such as push-to-talk. In related news, Intel announced a next-generation, carrier-grade Intel-based server as part of Intel’s growing communications effort.
