Apeiron is a supplier of NVMe over fabric links for businesses and will be releasing products based on a Toshiba NVMe SSD, which was being kept quiet until now. You will not see these coming to a desktop near you but the announcement contains a very interesting tidbit. The two ZD6000 drives being sold are 1.6TB and 3.2TB in size. While that 3.2TB drive is attractive, Aperion suggests that there will be higher capacity drives released after these models, with The Register speculating on doubling, which would give us some impressively sized drives. The technology used to stack this memory will eventually spill over to the consumer side so you can expect capacities to continue to grow and for prices to steadily decline.
"Toshiba has quietly made 1.6TB and 3.2TB dual-port ZD6000 NVMe SSDs available to OEMs, and we know this because Apeiron says it has certified them."

10 grand for a borked forcing
10 grand for a borked forcing from M$! While M$ should be free to do what it wants with its own branded kit(Surface/XBONE) like Apple does closed ecosystem wise with only the PC/Laptop/other hardware that Apple makes. But M$ should not be allowed to do any forcing/spying/ad pushing on any third party OEM branded PCs/Laptops. Let M$ be required to supply to the third party OEM PC/Laptop makers a windows 7 like OS with the under the hood improvements and no closed OS/software ecosystem restrictions/spying/ad pushing for the third party PC/Laptop OEM’s to use, and allow M$ to have it way only with its own branded first party SKUs, like Apple has with its first party PC/Laptop/tablet/phone SKUs.
Give the third party OEM PC/Laptop customers the choice on not being forced into a closed OS/software ecosystem by a supplier of the OS part(M$)to the third party PC/Laptop OEMs. It’s already an antitrust violation for M$ to force a vertical closed OS/Software ecosystem scheme onto the third party PC/Laptop OEMs! The third party PC/Laptop OEMs are being illegally vertically integrated into M$’s windows 10 style closed OS/Software ecosystem! And it was a similar to this very same forced vertical market integrating of third party suppliers of third party OEM PC/Laptop hardware to M$’s closed OS/Ecosystem scheme that got the Standard Oil Trust broken up, for the Standard Oil Trust’s forcing a closed oil supply chain ecosystem onto the independent oil producers in the 1890’s.
Where the hell are the Trust Busters for this new Gilded Age of technology Trusts! M$ is merely an OS part supplier to the third party PC/laptop OEMs, and that windows 10 closed OS/UWP/DX12 API /Software/Metrics gathering/ad pushing in the OS, ecosystem is definitely the dictionary definition of an antitrust violation.
We all should be suing the many US Justice Departments over the last 30 years for not enforcing the antitrust laws already on the books!
What are you on and have you
What are you on and have you considered consulting a professional for advice on changing it?
What are you on, someone’s
What are you on, someone’s payroll! It’s the truth M$ is is an illegal PC/Laptop OS monopoly, but your lack of historical knowledge shows! Get that through your thick skull! You may not be in the US, you are north of the border, but the US Antitrust laws are being ignored and in the US, M$ need to be broken up! And get rid of that damn Foo Man Choo on your face, everybody knows where your level of discourse comes from!
It’s no wonder consumers are getting the shaft, the technology “Press” is only all about the ads, and pushing the latest Kit. Get rid of that Foo Man Choo, cut your hair, and get into you gray flannel suit, because that’s what you really are!
Go study the US history of antitrust regulations, we have a serious problem with the technology Trusts, and they are just as bad as the Oil/Railroad Trusts of old.
You and Sonny Bono are cut from the same cloth!
What does any of that have to
What does any of that have to do with Toshiba's new NVMe drives?
You want to go off on Microsoft then go for it in posts about Microsoft; hell I have issues with them too.
However, but don't spam random news posts about Sonny & Cher and other totally unrelated topics.

You may live in Canada but
You may live in Canada but you are corporate American in your nature. So I can see why Quebec wants to go it alone! You may as well be from the midwestern American corn country. The American Joes think that they have freedoms, that is until the big business Trusts take over and their new technology merchant princes will ruin that freedom! At least they had enough common sence to bust the Trusts in the 1890s, but man those gamers/games shills love their M$ monopoly/Intel monopoly.
That “one shot” legal case was small claims court, so no lawyers allowed, and California has some damn good protections against tactics pulled by the M$ OS Trust. That will put a stop to M$’s OS forcing scams if more folks take M$ to small claims court, but really M$ needs to be broken up, and the parts made to compete against each other. Now if they could just solve gaming’s Goose Stepping problem, and hillbilly Monopoly toll problem, PC computing and gaming will be off and more affordable. But You gaming good old boys love those technology trusts!
I highly suggest that you go for a more clean shaven appearence with a Johnny Unitas hair cut, that Broadway Joe with the Fu Manchu ain’t fooling anyone!
Wow.

Wow.
Even for YOU, that post was just pathetic.
It’s you chizow, you so love
It’s you chizow, you so love your monopolies! But let’s get Fu Manchu his proper buzzcut and shave, so fitting to that salesman image. We must not offend our merchant princes here in Scam-merica, and its corporate stooges north of the boarder.
Oh dear he’s ranting about our beloved M$, and its John D. Rockefeller like co-founder/Henchman part of the M$ founding duo, Billy the G.
You go Québec independence fighters, we know it’s not about language or culture, it’s about all those other Canadian provinces and their American like tendency to worship their merchant princes, as if throwing off old King George’s tyranny did no good, American has reinvented the same Royal system under the corporate banner of crony capitalism.
It looks like Canada wants to become like the Pyramid Scheme of America, better to get free of that scheme you folks in Québec province.
Oh man.

No basement, just some ranting about those beloved hands that feed you, and your Redmond Lords, and their UWP scams, and forcing scams, and you are there at M$’s beck and call! It’s great to see M$ get this 10,000 dollar judgment, and more will follow!

•Updategate: California woman
•Updategate: California woman awarded $10,000 for borked Windows 10 upgrade @ The Inquirer
That headline, for the Rant, as in M$’s forcing needs to be stopped by the government, and M$ needs to be broken-up buy the US Justice Department and the courts!
Bust the Trusts, break them up! Just like the Standard Oil Trust got broken-up! No more M$ forcing allowed, with M$ not allowed to monetize the third party OEM’s PC/Laptop products and by default M$ not allowed to monetize the third party OEM PC’s/laptop’s end users. No M$ land grabs allowed on the third part PC/Laptop hardware, just supply the OS, with no spyware, adware, metrics gathering allowed by M$ on third party OEM PC/Laptop hardware!
Just a functioning OS for a resonable price, and NO M$ Monetization Schemes allowed on third party OEM made/branded PC/Laptop hardware!
So, you cherry-picked one
So, you cherry-picked one link from the stack to focus all of your anger upon, and have chosen to clog up the comments with your ranting about something that has nothing to do with the main topic of the article, becoming the very definition of, “that guy that nobody wants around but forces his presence upon them all anyway because they can’t actually get rid of him, yet somehow doesn’t understand what he’s doing wrong”.
Here’s an idea – why don’t you go over to the article that you’re so upset about and inflict yourself upon the comments there, where they’re actually talking about it. You might actually get something done that way, as opposed to what you’re doing right now, which just makes the people you’re forcing yourself upon hate you that much more.
Ha, the gaming Gits are out
Ha, the gaming Gits are out in force defending their monopolies, that chizow force is strong today! Let’s get angry at the bearer of bad news, but the computing market has been in a sycophant state for more than 3 decades, with some monopoly parts suppliers(OS/CPU/SOC) needing to be broken up to preserve competition. And that stack of articles with the Toshiba lead in had no restrictions on commenting on any of the others, so the ranting was/is justified at M$ update fiasco!
Not really, no. I have my
Not really, no. I have my problems with Microsoft just like Jeremy does, and just like you do. I kinda hate them, honestly.
The difference is, I talk about my problems with Microsoft in comment threads for articles that are about people’s problems with Microsoft.
This article is not about people’s problems with Microsoft. This article is about upcoming high-capacity Toshiba NVMe drives. You are the only person in this article’s comments trying to talk about how much you hate Microsoft, and you’re spraying your hate indiscriminately, in every direction, and trying to force everyone else to deal with it.
I know you think you’re trying to spark some kind of revolution or something, but you’re not. You’re being an asshole.
Here’s an analogy for you. There’s a small group of people hanging around together, and they’re talking about their city’s baseball team and their chances of getting into the playoffs. You walk right into the middle of the group and start yelling at them about Monsanto and genetically-modified plants and how they’re ruining everything. And then you’re shocked when, instead of all jumping up and grabbing torches and pitchforks and calling up Google Maps to figure out how to get to Monsanto, they all tell you to shut the hell up and go away.
That is what you’re doing right now. And everyone here wants you to shut the hell up and go away.
I Hate monopolies, just like
I Hate monopolies, just like the independent oil men of the 1880s, or the Ma Bell telephone monopoly was hated in the first 60 or so years of the 20th century, or Comcast/Intel/M$ today. It’s time to bust the Trusts, or keep ones wallet closed until the stock market crashes! Unless the government starts taking an axe to all these technology Trusts, like they did with the Oil/railroad Trusts a long time ago!
No the Lead article was about
No the Lead article was about Toshiba, but there where more articles listed and up for debate! Jeremy has no problems with M$, none at all! Remember unless the “author” has restricted debate, then all the other articles listed are subject to opinions! The Toshiba article was paraphrased/abstracted by Jeremy, from another source The Register, and the other news articles where also listed. Jeremy should have limited debate to the Toshiba article only, but it’s a group of articles on many different subjects in the news, so the M$ forcing/borking judgment is fair game for a foamimng at the mouth Rant!

You obviously only read the first sentence or two of my reply and fell over yourself trying to hit the reply link to answer me back. If you’d actually read the whole comment, you would have seen a very good example of what you’re doing right now.
Because I can see that these things are difficult for you to handle, I’ll just repeat it here. Please read it this time.

What is it you have against
What is it you have against PC gaming or gaming in general? To me this smacks of hidden political bs. If you do not like a product, then don’t use it. it’s really that simple. Some folks are satisfied with certain things while others merely tolerate. You have to pick and choose. attempting to force someone else to value your choices is a sure fire way to make them run the other direction. Besides, I think most of us here are quite familiar with Microsoft, and have been since our early teens. Are you really telling us anything new?
Of course he is. You and I
Of course he is. You and I and everyone else here – we’re just sheep. We know what we’re told and we obey. HE – and ONLY HE – knows the truth. He’s here to save us, don’t you see? He’s the only one who can, if only we would just LISTEN to him!
Hey, maybe he’s right. Problem is, nobody’s listening to him because he’s being approximately 137.226% “that obnoxious conspiracy theorist nutcase that everybody around hopes will just go away.” Nobody listens to that guy.
His entire message is being destroyed by his personality – and he has absolutely no idea.
Isn’t it hilarious?
What is the form factors of
What is the form factors of these drives? (PCIe, U.2 or M.2)
What is the largest consumer M.2 NVMe drive out today? The largest I can find are 512GB, are there larger squirreled away on other e-tailers?
(BTW: Off-topic rants may still happen, but would be lessened by disallowing anonymous posts. IMO)
NVMe-over-fabric … only
NVMe-over-fabric … only works with their specific interconnects as opposed to a consumer standard.
