UPDATE 2: Congratulations to user Cameron Berry as they are the winner of the PCAudioLabs sweepstakes sponsored by PC Perspective and Intel!! Thanks to everyone that participated and be sure to stay tuned for more contests right here on pcper.com!
Our fans and readers have supported PC Perspective since its formation in 2004 and even before that back in the days of amdmb.com and athlonmb.com, and because of that support, we have been able to provide you with reviews and information on a continuous basis that we feel are the best in the industry. And when we get the chance to give back to you, we jump at the chance and that is just what happened a couple weeks ago when our long time friends at Intel introduced us to the folks at PCAudioLabs for a sweepstakes of impressive proportions.
For the next two weeks we are giving our readers the chance to win a complete PCAudioLabs computer based on the Intel X79 platform and Sandy Bridge-E!! If you aren't familiar with PCAudioLabs, here is a rundown of their mission from their website:
PCAudioLabs was formed early in 2000 by Thomas Bolton and Fred Rosenbloom. At the time, they were both working at Steinberg North America in the technical department and they noticed a great need for more educational tools for music production. With a video camera and a desire to inform, they started making in depth tutorial guides to some of the biggest software products in music production. The company was a huge success but it quickly became apparent that even if people knew how to use their software, it wouldn’t be of much help if the computer they were trying to use it on didn’t do its job.
PCAudioLabs built their first custom DAW for world renowned Engineer/Producer Mark Howard and within months they were the hottest system builders in the country. Besides the enormous list of pro users that have chosen PCAudioLabs, AMD, Intel and Microsoft have all turned to PCAudioLabs whenever they have audio needs.
In 2007, PCAudioLabs tripled in size, moving into a new location and increasing staff to meet demand. By NAMM 2008, PCAudioLabs was not only the supplier of PC’s for music software giants Steinberg and Cakewalk, but also hardware manufacturers such as Roland, Yamaha and Euphonix.
Although our task is technical, we know our staff needs to be able to relate to you and your situation. That’s why not only are the people who will build your system experts in computing, they are also musicians. In fact, any person you e-mail or speak to at PCAudioLabs makes music, so you’ll never have to worry about asking a musical question and getting a technical response – we speak your language.
Inside this brand-new generation of Rok Box you'll find an Intel Core i7-3820 Sandy Bridge-E processor along with a great Intel DX79TO motherboard. Kingston has supplied 16GB of DDR3 memory to keep your audio creation rolling even with a ton of applications loaded up. Storage is powered by a 240GB Intel 510 SSD as well as dual 1TB spinning drives for recording and sampling simultaneously. ASUS has provided the GTX 560 Ti CUII TOP graphics card and the entire system is powered by an 850 watt Antec High Current Pro power supply. In total, the system from PCAudioLabs will retail for right around $3,000!!
That isn't all though as PCAudioLabs has included full versions of software required for audio production including Cakewalk Sonar X1 Essential, Native Instruments Komplete Element's, IK Multimedia's Amplitube FREE and much more. The software alone is valued at more than $600 bringing the total value here to over $3,600! See the PCAudioLabs website for more details.
I am sure you are interested in the system itself so we have created a short video to go over the hardware as well as the software included in this bundle - check it out!
Without a doubt you are wondering what you have to do to win this system. The steps are simple:
- Visit the PCAudioLabs Facebook page at http://facebook.com/pcaudiolabs, "Like" it and leave a comment on the wall if you want as well, thanking them for supporting PC Perspective and the audio creation community. They are supporting PC Perspective by giving us this system and allowing US to support YOU with the giveaway, so get over here and support THEM!
- Leave a comment on this PC Perspective post below (registration is not required, though recommended) telling us and the PCAL crew what you plan to do with this system, how you'll utilize its power in your audio creation projects, etc. What will the Rok Box improve or make easier for you?
- And if you want to follow us for more PC hardware news and upcoming contests you can do so at several locations. http://twitter.com/pcper http://facebook.com/pcper and http://gplus.to/pcper
That's it! Our sweepstakes will run between today at end at 12:01am EST on March the 6th. If you don't have your entry in by then, you are out of luck. We will pick a random winner from the comments and ship the system out that week in March. You are responsible for any taxes / tariffs but we'll cover the shipping to anywhere in the world.
A HUGE thanks goes out to our friends at PCAudioLabs and Intel for making this possible and we hope you all appreciate the work that goes into putting something like this on. Also, thanks goes to Antec, ASUS and Kingston for their support as well.
Good luck to everyone and happy audio editing!!

As a musician with 5 years of guitar and 4 four years of percussion, I would use this machine to record all sorts of things for analysis, learning and pleasure. Most of all I would try to compose new music to share with the world!
im volunteering at church. what i do is i record the church praise and sermon, and edit. so i can use this system to edit recording files that i record from church.
Wow what an amazing piece of hardware, with such a great software included, with this power at my disposal the world shall be mine !!! *insert evil laugh*, J/K, but seriously, if a had one of this i would use it to arrange a wide variety of music pieces for a 3D movie i'm trying to put together with some friend, i could also use it for rendering, i'm pretty sure that with that much power rendering times should be at least half of what we are experiencing now. All that power at my hands, i would be AWESOME :D (plus if we won it, we would wont hate to prostitute our self just to get our hand on something similar to this).
Id be replacing my crappy 2007 walmart computer with this.been trying for years to uprade just couldnt ever find the money to.World of Warcraft all the way,it would be amazing to not lag anymore.
That rig looks amazing awesome job to you guys
Well, I am an audio engineer for MGM Productions but on the side I provide all of the audio and video editing for a team of improve comedy nuts on youtube. What I have to work on at work is great but at home when it comes to editing it can be...sad. So with this system, I would kick it up a notch and crank out some great content using the new machine if I won :)
this new system will be used to get lots of work done allowing me to use all the newer technology that comes with it since this PC can not handle anything since this is pretty old. All that power will make using this much faster.
Amazing giveaway! I'm very glad to see companies, like PCAudioLabs and PC Perspective do this kind of stuff. Win or lose, thanks for the chance!
I would use this as my media center in my living room, gaming platform, and just my everyday computer. I've always wanted a pc like this, but haven't had the means to do so.
Well, what I want to do is gaming mostly, and create levels on UDK for individual / local projects just to get more experience and therefor, became part of mayor projects
I have an Eigen Harp and would LOVE to have a new computer for it.....I may even give up being an all Mac all the time guy .....
This pc is awesome, and would make a great upgrade from my current pc.
i have an old computer that can't do what i want. i am going to school for a multimedia degree and i have a dual-core and turion X2 2.1 GHz computer that can barely render anything done in Auto desk Maya. i would also like to test out the sound software.
As an enterprise, mobile and web app developer, I need an update to my existing rig like most everyone else here. It's all about building next-gen music apps on next-gen solid Rok hardware. Thanks for keeping the dream alive and hosting such a nice giveaway. Rok on!
Nice to have vendors focused on with building audio-tweaked PCs. My generic PC is unable to keep up with the demands of big sample libraries and CPU-hungry soft synths that I compose with. This would be a fantastic upgrade!
All I can say is WOW. Thats a awesome system. I plan to use it for making cool Battlefield 3 videos and sharing them with my friends. I have never used any audio production software, and that would make a cool introduction to it. Wow something to look forward to. Tanks for the chance to win this.
I've been doing a lot of reading lately about PS Audio Labs and their very fine machines...and it's time for an upgrade, so what a great opportunity to take one of these puppies for spin! Thanks for the contest, guys! :)

I'd use this rig for creating the most awesome sound of happiness for winning it (?). It would help a lot with my work in filming short films and such.
Music is always fun but has limitations when it comes to money. Winning the PC will be great!
I will finally be able to get off this crappy laptop of mine and actually get real work done! Make music all day every day!
I got a very old computer, can't enjoy my games, music, video editing and etc. But with this Rok Box I would be able to enjoy all of them to the max!
Thank you for the contest and good luck to all participants!
Honestly I wouldn't know where to start. A friend of mine has been trying to get me to help him with his music for some time now but I haven't had the tech to. With this, I think I would finally be able to. Also that gfx card is pretty powerful so I'd use it to play games as well! And that processor is just flat out beastly. Thanks for the giveaway!
I was totally game on it and rock the house down.
This computer sounds like it would be a better quieter way to go in a small single room home studio. Like the one I'd build around this amazing system... My living-room awaits!
Thank you for this chance to enter a sweepstakes for a brand sparkling new computer to start off a career in broadcasting! <3
I'll keep my eye on you and see what you guys are up to in the future.
Hey,
I would really enjoy to win this PC, becaue I will never be able to get beyond FL Studio, Renoise and LMMS, as long I cant afford another PC. My PC is more than 7 years old (Bill says 10.2.2004 ;) ) and not even capable of USB 2.0, still I am trying to sqeeze some lofi beats out of it. A new PC could be the gate to smooth beats instead dubstep like sputtlering errors.
Pick the poor student!
I m looking forward to win and start cleaning up my desk, right away!
Bye.
This computer looks ridiculous, I've never had a top of the line PC before.
My rig is 7 Years old, with this i can do all the things i love, video editing, mixing, gaming
I would firstly like to apologize for not reading the Sweepstakes rules. My previous comment was made under the name of "Zeke 'Doktorn' Hellquist" with the same e-mail as the one for my account. Please disregard that comment.
Now, onwards.
The use for a system like this has no bounds.
I am a fledgling broadcaster/podcaster/Youtuber, and I'm working on getting the funds for a proper microphone.
Having a system basically tailor-made for the Audio creative process is like a dream come true!
Building on a solid i7 base, with HyperThreading, means I'll never choke on the CPU side.
A big SSD means that there is no issue in terms of bandwidth, spin-up shenanigans or space when recording and editing. The dual 1TB drives will make certain that all the space needs in the back-end (long-term storage of recorded media) are taken care of aswell.
Kingston memories and a solid 560 graphics card will ensure that while recording, I can have a million tabs in my browser, meanwhile running a muted HD replay of a game to comment (or even play and live comment!) and still keep the sweet audio recording. Running out of RAM? Not with these puppies!
Oh, and you can't trust a PSU unless it's an Antec - rock solid performance and safe operations with extremely low failure rates!
Thank you for this chance to enter your sweepstakes.
Yours truly, Zeke Hellquisth.
Lets see... ohh so many possibilities with a rig like this... Besides the hugely beneficial price (Part time college / Part time work can get expensive)
I would have to say firstly, PC Gaming, after all I would hate for all that GTX 560 TI power to go to waste ;). I would continue my learning and testing in PC Game design, and as somone who has played guitar, cello, bass guitar for about 10 years (give or take a little), and with the software on this rig, audio channel mixing/creation would be a very fun experience (finally have a good reason to buy a really good mic to record with).
Good luck to all, and thanks PCPer and the "PCAL" team for making this cool contest possible.
thanks, this computer looks way sweet :)
