UPDATE: Contest is closed!  We'll announce a winner in the next couple of days!! Thanks to all who entered and to our sponsors for allowing us the chance to give away this kick-ass system!

UPDATE 2: Congratulations to user Cameron Berry as they are the winner of the PCAudioLabs sweepstakes sponsored by PC Perspective and Intel!!  Thanks to everyone that participated and be sure to stay tuned for more contests right here on!

Our fans and readers have supported PC Perspective since its formation in 2004 and even before that back in the days of and, and because of that support, we have been able to provide you with reviews and information on a continuous basis that we feel are the best in the industry.  And when we get the chance to give back to you, we jump at the chance and that is just what happened a couple weeks ago when our long time friends at Intel introduced us to the folks at PCAudioLabs for a sweepstakes of impressive proportions.

For the next two weeks we are giving our readers the chance to win a complete PCAudioLabs computer based on the Intel X79 platform and Sandy Bridge-E!!  If you aren't familiar with PCAudioLabs, here is a rundown of their mission from their website:

PCAudioLabs was formed early in 2000 by Thomas Bolton and Fred Rosenbloom. At the time, they were both working at Steinberg North America in the technical department and they noticed a great need for more educational tools for music production. With a video camera and a desire to inform, they started making in depth tutorial guides to some of the biggest software products in music production. The company was a huge success but it quickly became apparent that even if people knew how to use their software, it wouldn’t be of much help if the computer they were trying to use it on didn’t do its job.

PCAudioLabs built their first custom DAW for world renowned Engineer/Producer Mark Howard and within months they were the hottest system builders in the country. Besides the enormous list of pro users that have chosen PCAudioLabs, AMD, Intel and Microsoft have all turned to PCAudioLabs whenever they have audio needs.

In 2007, PCAudioLabs tripled in size, moving into a new location and increasing staff to meet demand. By NAMM 2008, PCAudioLabs was not only the supplier of PC’s for music software giants Steinberg and Cakewalk, but also hardware manufacturers such as Roland, Yamaha and Euphonix.

Although our task is technical, we know our staff needs to be able to relate to you and your situation. That’s why not only are the people who will build your system experts in computing, they are also musicians. In fact, any person you e-mail or speak to at PCAudioLabs makes music, so you’ll never have to worry about asking a musical question and getting a technical response – we speak your language.

Inside this brand-new generation of Rok Box you'll find an Intel Core i7-3820 Sandy Bridge-E processor along with a great Intel DX79TO motherboard.  Kingston has supplied 16GB of DDR3 memory to keep your audio creation rolling even with a ton of applications loaded up.  Storage is powered by a 240GB Intel 510 SSD as well as dual 1TB spinning drives for recording and sampling simultaneously.  ASUS has provided the GTX 560 Ti CUII TOP graphics card and the entire system is powered by an 850 watt Antec High Current Pro power supply.  In total, the system from PCAudioLabs will retail for right around $3,000!!

That isn't all though as PCAudioLabs has included full versions of software required for audio production including Cakewalk Sonar X1 Essential, Native Instruments Komplete Element's, IK Multimedia's Amplitube FREE and much more.  The software alone is valued at more than $600 bringing the total value here to over $3,600!  See the PCAudioLabs website for more details.

I am sure you are interested in the system itself so we have created a short video to go over the hardware as well as the software included in this bundle - check it out!

Without a doubt you are wondering what you have to do to win this system.  The steps are simple:

  1. Visit the PCAudioLabs Facebook page at, "Like" it and leave a comment on the wall if you want as well, thanking them for supporting PC Perspective and the audio creation community.  They are supporting PC Perspective by giving us this system and allowing US to support YOU with the giveaway, so get over here and support THEM!
  2. Leave a comment on this PC Perspective post below (registration is not required, though recommended) telling us and the PCAL crew what you plan to do with this system, how you'll utilize its power in your audio creation projects, etc.  What will the Rok Box improve or make easier for you?
  3. And if you want to follow us for more PC hardware news and upcoming contests you can do so at several locations. and

That's it!  Our sweepstakes will run between today at end at 12:01am EST on March the 6th.  If you don't have your entry in by then, you are out of luck.  We will pick a random winner from the comments and ship the system out that week in March.  You are responsible for any taxes / tariffs but we'll cover the shipping to anywhere in the world.

A HUGE thanks goes out to our friends at PCAudioLabs and Intel for making this possible and we hope you all appreciate the work that goes into putting something like this on.  Also, thanks goes to Antec, ASUS and Kingston for their support as well.

Good luck to everyone and happy audio editing!!

February 21, 2012 | 09:32 AM - Posted by truk007

Thanks to PC Audiolabs and PC Perspective for hosting this giveaway. I suppose there are many things I could do with this system, but one thing that comes to mind is to loan it out to local musicians at a cost.

February 21, 2012 | 09:48 AM - Posted by Buck Owens (not verified)

I am currently running 5 year old software on a 10 year old system. This new Rok Box would definately be a welcome upgrade to my studio. Thanks for the oppourtunity to win this kick ass system!!!

February 21, 2012 | 10:21 AM - Posted by Steve (not verified)

This would be cool to hook up my daughter's keyboard to and help her create some digital music.

Thanks PC Perspective and PCAudioLabs for such a great contest.

February 21, 2012 | 10:55 AM - Posted by cortexodus

Man, this would just rock my house apart. I might discover more uses for all the other weird audio doodads I have laying around just by bringing them within proximity of this glowing obelisk of power!

February 21, 2012 | 11:18 AM - Posted by facedown41 (not verified)

Thank you guys for the opportunity to win something so vital to any audio producer out there. I plan to finally be able to get down to recording friends and have a decent setup for use with my church recordings as well. This will make so many things easier throughout my studies as well.

February 21, 2012 | 11:24 AM - Posted by FubarVirus (not verified)

Looks like an Awesome Rig would love to take this bad boy home!

February 21, 2012 | 11:59 AM - Posted by cs51762

Wow, what a wonderful prize! I'm the guitarist for the praise band at the church I attend and this is something we could really use. We're only able to practice together once a week and sometimes it's hard to remember the song arrangements or any changes that were made. If we all had practice tracks that we could use to practice with at home, that would improve the quality of our performance greatly. A system like this would allow us to make those tracks.

Thanks, guys, for a great podcast!

February 21, 2012 | 01:34 PM - Posted by Azian Guile (not verified)

You can't use this system for anything else but gaming. Currently, I'm playing BF3. So, it will be a BF3 gaming rig until the next major game comes out.

Thanks for supporting PC Perspective and the audio creation community!

February 21, 2012 | 01:37 PM - Posted by uLoco

I would use the computer for the sole purpose of which it was created, to make music of course! :D
I've become rather interested in starting to create dubstep and other kinds of music, and this piece of glory here would really help me with that. My old comp is 5 years old and it can't handle the newer stuff of todays software.
I'd really appreciate if i got this computer, it would mean the world to me :D

February 21, 2012 | 01:38 PM - Posted by Erik Cartman (not verified)

This is a very impressive system! It would be perfect for running multiple screens of Sibelius as I write the drumline scores for the schools I teach at. It would also be wonderfully powerful for gaming, and could run my engineering software flawlessly. I absolutely would love to win it. Thank you PC Perspective and PCAudioLabs for the opportunity.

February 21, 2012 | 01:48 PM - Posted by Halfdurf

First of all I'd really like to thank everyone here at PC Perspective and PCAudiLabs for having this giveaway. I myself would love to win this (obviously) becouse I'm on a really old computer and cant afford any fancy new computer like this one becouse I'm currently studying. Audio editing and creating has always been a big part of my life, I play drums piano and the guitar. I only started a few years back with basic editing nothing too hard but now i just feel that I've grown past that and the only thing keeping me back is my equipment. So I'd really like a chanse to win this :) Thanks again, have a fun contest.

February 21, 2012 | 01:50 PM - Posted by K-Tech Computers (not verified)

Awesome giveaway! Thanks for the chance at a great package of PC hardware!

February 21, 2012 | 01:50 PM - Posted by Omar cruz (not verified)

I've had this computer for a long time and making new beats in it really takes forever! With this new system and software it would be a lot faster :D I want it so bad :)))

February 21, 2012 | 01:54 PM - Posted by Bruce Epper (not verified)

I'd love to have a dedicated machine for my audio/video work especially with so much power instead of doing everything (software/web development, office usage, communications, etc) on my current underpowered (Phenom 9500 x4) system using only free or open source software. The professional software alone would make the process so much easier.

February 21, 2012 | 01:54 PM - Posted by Vordrenoth (not verified)

As a Video Game designer who is getting into dabbling with Audio editing and voice recording, I'm sure this would be an immeasurably useful tool in my career field. I'd use it for high-quality editing and professional work.

February 21, 2012 | 01:55 PM - Posted by Klex (not verified)

Awesome rig. I'd be amazing to get rid of my old machine with parts that date back to 2006! Damn. Either way, good luck to everyone! :)

February 21, 2012 | 01:55 PM - Posted by ONIxxx_Style (not verified)

February 21, 2012 | 01:55 PM - Posted by Matthew Burns (not verified)

I would use this computer to take over the world..... ok maybe just play tons of steam games, use it for home work, edit movies and brag to my family that i have the coolest computer in the world.

Thanks for the great contest.

February 21, 2012 | 01:56 PM - Posted by moxman15

Great contest with a solid system to boot! I am a freelance system builder who has fallen on hard times, and my girlfriend has been dying to get her computer modernized so she can get back into not only gaming, but back into music editing. Sadly, money is too tight to get her what she needs to get the job done the right way. A system like this would mean the world to me to be able to help her do something she loves again and keep the system relevant for years to come!

February 21, 2012 | 01:56 PM - Posted by moneymouf

This setup would be a HUGE upgrade from where I'm at now. Processing power alone would cut a ton of time that's being wasted, not to mention much better software than I'm on now.

February 21, 2012 | 01:57 PM - Posted by Cliff (not verified)

This would be a huge upgrade for me that would help greatly with my audio, video, and photo editing.

February 21, 2012 | 01:59 PM - Posted by João Pedro Fontes e Sousa (not verified)

The desktop that you are offering is a proffesionally built computer made for audio creating and audio editing.
If you give this to me I can consider going into a career of audio creating or audio editing.
To be honest I never created or edited any kind of audio.
Except trying Virtual DJ.
Have a good afternoon and we will see how this goes.

February 21, 2012 | 02:00 PM - Posted by Tym' (not verified)

I can't even imagine everything I'll be able to do with so much power ! I could play, I could work on audio and video projects at the same time... Awesome, isn't it ?
Every single stuff needed to be able to produce something costs so much... Having this in my studio would really really nice, so I could spend my money in buying other stuff to build my own professional studio :)

February 21, 2012 | 02:02 PM - Posted by Kevin huang (not verified)

Well with this computer, I hope to get into the whole youtube thing like doing commentaries and stuff. Above all this computer would save me alot of cash.

Thanks PCPerspective and PCaudiolabs for doing this

Thank you guys for doing this awesome contest! I've been needing a new computer to get back into production. I was producing with Cubase SX and Reason many years back (with reason 1.0-3.0) and had made tons of drum n bass tracks and house tracks for local dj's in my area (in North Florida). I met the right/wrong girl haha and ended up stopping all my musical interests. Now that she's gone (and after I sold everything off) I'm trying to get back into it all and something like this would really step it up for me. I still have my axiom keyboard so I'm good with controllers, but this computer would be the best DAW I can imagine. Thank you again for offering this in a contest! You guys are amazing.

February 21, 2012 | 02:04 PM - Posted by Carl Findahl (not verified)

I will definitely utilize this rig in order to make astonishing music for feature films and private projects in order to impress my friends. It will also be used heavily for VFX and 3D animation/modeling and gaming :p

February 21, 2012 | 02:07 PM - Posted by Jon Pilling (not verified)

I would use it to help my friend that owns a small studio but doesn't have the money to upgrade his computer so the whole process is slow, might even join him to help

February 21, 2012 | 02:10 PM - Posted by wraithleigh (not verified)

Winning this PC would be insane because it would allow me to move my current PC out and make it into a local server, thus letting me make this into a Studio PC for video / audio editing. Being a new father, it's hard for me to justify spending on something so powerful.

February 21, 2012 | 02:12 PM - Posted by Brian (not verified)

Looks awesome could really mix some nice tracks!

February 21, 2012 | 02:14 PM - Posted by GorbachevHF (not verified)

Awesome computer you guys are great especially with how much you guys give back to fans. I am going to just keep mixing like I have up to this point, but with the new software and hardware it is hard to imagine the new possibilities of what I could do.

February 21, 2012 | 02:22 PM - Posted by KK1989 (not verified)

I will listen to pornz, edit pornz, look pornz.

February 21, 2012 | 02:25 PM - Posted by Simon (not verified)

Wow, that PC. The build acctually look beautiful.

If I won this I would be able to start making music again, my last pc's 2 different graphic card I have tried have both crashed. Which means that I dont have a computer good enough to use music software like reason on. I do however have a keyboard.

I would continue doing what I love and with all of the computer, I have nothing holding be back.

Please, it would mean so much for me.

February 21, 2012 | 02:31 PM - Posted by Chelios34

I really want that computer since I can barely do my homeworks with my Family's computer. I plan to enjoy it every days with my whole friends and have a lot of fun with it !!

This system has a lot of Potential in the right hands, may these my by hands or another worthy persons but I'll say this, I would put this to great use not having much money myself I will greatly benefit from this not only for the audio capabilities but for much more, Next year I am going to university and I am looking for a better rig than what I have not only to program and to develop myself but and to build something that will revolutionize the way we use think and interact with computers but to do that I need some power behind me, with ever increasing university prices now at £9000 a year this would help me out greatly, Thanks for your time and good luck people :)

As a musician with 5 years of guitar and 4 four years of percussion, I would use this machine to record all sorts of things for analysis, learning and pleasure. Most of all I would try to compose new music to share with the world!

Wow what an amazing piece of hardware, with such a great software included, with this power at my disposal the world shall be mine !!! *insert evil laugh*, J/K, but seriously, if a had one of this i would use it to arrange a wide variety of music pieces for a 3D movie i'm trying to put together with some friend, i could also use it for rendering, i'm pretty sure that with that much power rendering times should be at least half of what we are experiencing now. All that power at my hands, i would be AWESOME :D (plus if we won it, we would wont hate to prostitute our self just to get our hand on something similar to this).

Well, I am an audio engineer for MGM Productions but on the side I provide all of the audio and video editing for a team of improve comedy nuts on youtube. What I have to work on at work is great but at home when it comes to editing it can be...sad. So with this system, I would kick it up a notch and crank out some great content using the new machine if I won :)

February 21, 2012 | 04:06 PM - Posted by Christopher (not verified)

this new system will be used to get lots of work done allowing me to use all the newer technology that comes with it since this PC can not handle anything since this is pretty old. All that power will make using this much faster.

Amazing giveaway! I'm very glad to see companies, like PCAudioLabs and PC Perspective do this kind of stuff. Win or lose, thanks for the chance!

I would use this as my media center in my living room, gaming platform, and just my everyday computer. I've always wanted a pc like this, but haven't had the means to do so.

February 21, 2012 | 04:08 PM - Posted by Ivan Meling (not verified)

Well, what I want to do is gaming mostly, and create levels on UDK for individual / local projects just to get more experience and therefor, became part of mayor projects

i have an old computer that can't do what i want. i am going to school for a multimedia degree and i have a dual-core and turion X2 2.1 GHz computer that can barely render anything done in Auto desk Maya. i would also like to test out the sound software.

As an enterprise, mobile and web app developer, I need an update to my existing rig like most everyone else here. It's all about building next-gen music apps on next-gen solid Rok hardware. Thanks for keeping the dream alive and hosting such a nice giveaway. Rok on!

February 21, 2012 | 04:38 PM - Posted by John H. (not verified)

Nice to have vendors focused on with building audio-tweaked PCs. My generic PC is unable to keep up with the demands of big sample libraries and CPU-hungry soft synths that I compose with. This would be a fantastic upgrade!

February 21, 2012 | 04:43 PM - Posted by Chris Kelly (not verified)

All I can say is WOW. Thats a awesome system. I plan to use it for making cool Battlefield 3 videos and sharing them with my friends. I have never used any audio production software, and that would make a cool introduction to it. Wow something to look forward to. Tanks for the chance to win this.

I've been doing a lot of reading lately about PS Audio Labs and their very fine machines...and it's time for an upgrade, so what a great opportunity to take one of these puppies for spin! Thanks for the contest, guys! :)

I'd use this rig for creating the most awesome sound of happiness for winning it (?). It would help a lot with my work in filming short films and such.

Music is always fun but has limitations when it comes to money. Winning the PC will be great!

I will finally be able to get off this crappy laptop of mine and actually get real work done! Make music all day every day!

February 21, 2012 | 04:54 PM - Posted by Kelvin Po Keng Siong (not verified)

I got a very old computer, can't enjoy my games, music, video editing and etc. But with this Rok Box I would be able to enjoy all of them to the max!

Thank you for the contest and good luck to all participants!

February 21, 2012 | 04:58 PM - Posted by Jungull

Honestly I wouldn't know where to start. A friend of mine has been trying to get me to help him with his music for some time now but I haven't had the tech to. With this, I think I would finally be able to. Also that gfx card is pretty powerful so I'd use it to play games as well! And that processor is just flat out beastly. Thanks for the giveaway!

I was totally game on it and rock the house down.

This computer sounds like it would be a better quieter way to go in a small single room home studio. Like the one I'd build around this amazing system... My living-room awaits!

Thank you for this chance to enter a sweepstakes for a brand sparkling new computer to start off a career in broadcasting! <3
I'll keep my eye on you and see what you guys are up to in the future.

February 21, 2012 | 05:13 PM - Posted by Lars Christian S. (not verified)

I would really enjoy to win this PC, becaue I will never be able to get beyond FL Studio, Renoise and LMMS, as long I cant afford another PC. My PC is more than 7 years old (Bill says 10.2.2004 ;) ) and not even capable of USB 2.0, still I am trying to sqeeze some lofi beats out of it. A new PC could be the gate to smooth beats instead dubstep like sputtlering errors.
Pick the poor student!
I m looking forward to win and start cleaning up my desk, right away!

February 21, 2012 | 05:15 PM - Posted by Zach Sager (not verified)

This computer looks ridiculous, I've never had a top of the line PC before.

February 21, 2012 | 05:17 PM - Posted by raidercpu

My rig is 7 Years old, with this i can do all the things i love, video editing, mixing, gaming

February 21, 2012 | 05:44 PM - Posted by Lillfot

I would firstly like to apologize for not reading the Sweepstakes rules. My previous comment was made under the name of "Zeke 'Doktorn' Hellquist" with the same e-mail as the one for my account. Please disregard that comment.

Now, onwards.
The use for a system like this has no bounds.
I am a fledgling broadcaster/podcaster/Youtuber, and I'm working on getting the funds for a proper microphone.
Having a system basically tailor-made for the Audio creative process is like a dream come true!
Building on a solid i7 base, with HyperThreading, means I'll never choke on the CPU side.
A big SSD means that there is no issue in terms of bandwidth, spin-up shenanigans or space when recording and editing. The dual 1TB drives will make certain that all the space needs in the back-end (long-term storage of recorded media) are taken care of aswell.
Kingston memories and a solid 560 graphics card will ensure that while recording, I can have a million tabs in my browser, meanwhile running a muted HD replay of a game to comment (or even play and live comment!) and still keep the sweet audio recording. Running out of RAM? Not with these puppies!
Oh, and you can't trust a PSU unless it's an Antec - rock solid performance and safe operations with extremely low failure rates!

Thank you for this chance to enter your sweepstakes.

Yours truly, Zeke Hellquisth.

Lets see... ohh so many possibilities with a rig like this... Besides the hugely beneficial price (Part time college / Part time work can get expensive)

I would have to say firstly, PC Gaming, after all I would hate for all that GTX 560 TI power to go to waste ;). I would continue my learning and testing in PC Game design, and as somone who has played guitar, cello, bass guitar for about 10 years (give or take a little), and with the software on this rig, audio channel mixing/creation would be a very fun experience (finally have a good reason to buy a really good mic to record with).

Good luck to all, and thanks PCPer and the "PCAL" team for making this cool contest possible.

Been wanting to build my own PC to handle all my needs (not for $3000) but this system is amazing! My friend is in a band (ItScreamedDemise) and they need all the help they can get. With this PC I could help them out quite a bit and even create my own music which I have not been able to do with my current setup.

Thanks for all you guys do!! Great contest!

February 21, 2012 | 07:32 PM - Posted by Anonymous (not verified)

This system is gorgeous! As an individual trying to make it in the voice-over business, which involves music and audio recording and editing, this monster of a PC would eliminate my need for a new computer practically indefinitely. As of right now, I'm working with a half-broken laptop and a 7 year old PC >_<

February 21, 2012 | 07:34 PM - Posted by RpTexas (not verified)

I will use this for gaming and audio editing. You guys rock!!

February 21, 2012 | 08:17 PM - Posted by cobrien (not verified)

i just follow everything ASUS because theyre awesome and saw this on their twitter would love all the goodies in the prize

February 21, 2012 | 08:28 PM - Posted by Brent (not verified)

hmm, I don't know what to say, everybody wants to use the pc for creative purposes the only musical purpose I have is to and try plug in my old keyboard and see if I can learn the piano, but I can do that with any computer I guess.

February 21, 2012 | 08:58 PM - Posted by Kloakenstein

I would be able to consistently make the music I have been wanting to jitter/pause/lag and even lock up free. Without the heavy load times I currently get just to sample a sound with something like say Cool Edit Pro. I want to continue making VG music and with a system like this I could branch off into new territories as well.

February 21, 2012 | 09:11 PM - Posted by mcboogle

thanks pc perspective and pc audiolabs for giving me a chance to get this awesome still using p4 btw hehe

February 21, 2012 | 09:17 PM - Posted by jksgamboa

Thank you for giving me opportunity to have one! MORE POWER PC Perspective! :-)

Thank you for giving us this opportunity to win something great! This is great! I would use it for our virtualisation software running in VMWare, as well as playing games. Our net-book isn't the best for that kind of stuff, and we cant afford to upgrade.

Thank you again!

February 21, 2012 | 09:39 PM - Posted by Avery Kucan (not verified)

Netbooks are great and all, but trying to run 2 instances of Windows 7 in VMWare with 2 GB ram on TOP of windows XP and using it to manage a LAN isn't really that great. Then at the end of the day I take it home and use it for a few games that run at a few frames per second.

Would love to win this Rok Box and get my remixing on. Deadmau5? Got nothin on me with this rig

February 21, 2012 | 11:01 PM - Posted by Sean (not verified)

I wouldn't be using this machine for audio projects, but I'd definitely use it for the Stanford folding project. Who knows, with all that power, I might just try some audio work.

February 21, 2012 | 11:03 PM - Posted by Sam Quinn (not verified)

I plan on finally being able to make my beautiful dubstep with out having to wait 5 hours for Acid 4.0 to think about every little thing it has to do. ^.^

Thanks for being awesome! Would love to win so I can replace my 6 year old piece of junk.

February 21, 2012 | 11:33 PM - Posted by modena

I would use this for all of my video editing with work, which does tie in quite a bit of audio as well. In short it would be a tremendous help. Cheers for the chance to win such a nice build!

As a current gamer, I have browsed through countless videos uploaded by other pro or amateur gamers. These videos can help demonstrate the unique skill sets these players possess to assist others that play the same video game. Although some may not provide any helpful tips, they can still entertain us with the music and sounds they provide along with the video.

With the gaming world ever evolving, I was hoping to catch on with this point-of-view perspective video making process and try to create some of my own. I wish to help the audience with these videos, but would also like to entertain them too.

I hope for the best and wish good luck to everyone!

February 22, 2012 | 12:23 AM - Posted by bata99

Thank you PC Perspective and PCAudioLabs for the chance to win this amazing piece! I am always on my computer between work and play! Always listening to music, watching your videos on youtube, etc! I would use this to produce my new webcasts and videos on my new site I plan to start soon! Can you throw in a keyboard too? After watching the video I seemed to have drooled all over mine, thanks!

Amazing system. I will utilize its power with my video and audio creation projects. My wedding projects will be finished much easier and faster with this system so my clients would be really happy because they`re not waiting for their wedding too much. Also the compilations i make for different events would be compiled faster than ever. I can get all the help i can need so this one really is amazing. Count me in and hope to win!
