One of the contributors at Rock, Paper, SHOTGUN have rekindled their love of space sims thanks to being in on the Elite: Dangerous alpha which has precipitated a quest to find the best joystick currently on the market. Three contenders appear in this review, the Saitek X52 Pro, the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro and the Speedlink Black Widow which refer to themselves as Hands On Throttle-And-Stick or flight sticks and the innuendo is as thick as you might expect. Haven’t used one since the old MechWarrior days …just too lazy to go find it and plug it in – tho I’m sure I could eventually become a BF3 flying Ace if I did 🙂

Currently using the HOTAS Warthog from Thrustmaster for the DCS series. Was hoping to use it for the new Mechwarrior series as well, but that turned out to be a flop. So far RSI supports them as well. Hands down the best HOTAS setup i have ever used or owned.

PS: should also note that i have used Logitech, Saitek,Gravis, and CH Products. Thrustmaster first. CH Products second, Everything else a distant last! You get what you pay for in flight control setups.

This article is too funny.
This article is too funny. Those choices are basically the same choices from 7 years ago. It was only $100 on sale for a X52 Pro back in 2007 so it’s a lot more expensive to buy one now.
