While Ken got their first with his review of Rage on the iPhone back on Nov 22nd, Ars Technica had a chance to speak with John Carmack about his new creation, something we haven’t had a chance to do in quite a while.  They do take the time to play through the game on an iPad, but spend more time discussing what Rage means to id and gamers.  This is much more than just a game, it is a $2 proof of concept that id’s latest and greatest game engine can play on Apple’s mobile iOS without sacrificing much in the way of graphical quality or gameplay.  They also touch on why Android did not get Rage and the plans they have for that mobile OS.

“If there were a Mt. Rushmore of computer gaming, John Carmack’s head would not only be on it, it would have the highest polygon count. Ars recently caught up with this founding father of 3D to talk about mobile gaming, the iPad as a console, Android vs. iOS, and, of course, id’s newest and most advanced title: Rage. After the interview, you’ll find our review of Rage for the iPad, so don’t forget to click all the way through.”
