CES 2010: ASUS Waveface Conceptual Products - General Tech 5

During our first ASUS press conference on Tuesday, ASUS Chairman Jonney Shih showcased the company’s new line of performance and designer notebooks and netbooks, but they also gave the media a little teaser of their new Waveface line of conceptual products. After we left the press conference drooling over the images of these products, we learned that ASUS actually had a Waveface display at their booth at the Consumer Electronics Show. We headed over to get a closer look at three conceptual products that could give us a glimpse at the future of computers and the social impact of these types of products.

The first concept product that is very attractive is the Waveface Ultra, which is a wearable smart phone. As you can see from the image above, it has the ability to move content wirelessly to many different types of deviecs. It will also support gesture controls and can also be straightened to allow the information to be viewed over the entire screen.

The Waveface Light is a touchscreen tablet notebook that works like a normal notebook, but can be transformed into a big screen tablet. ASUS states that the keyboard is the screen that rises up when users fold up the notebook.

Lastly, the Waveface Casa is a high definition, widescreen multimedia display people can use to surf the web, check e-mail, and interact with other users at the touch of a button. We can also speculate that all these Waveface devices will be able to interact with each other and share the same data, including photos, video, and audio files. Overall, the Waveface conceptual products definitely give us something to think about in terms of where we are headed in the future and we’ll keep an eye out for how (or if) this product line actually matures enough that it is able to be put into production.
