Okay, we see a lot of monitors here at PC Perspective…but this is probably the current "most coveted" of them all. The ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q looks nearly identical to the first generation ROG Swift display but with a couple of key modifications. Yes, this is still a 27-in 2560×1440 monitor but this time…oh this time…it holds a 165 Hz IPS screen.
Moving away from the world of TN screens and into the image-quality-improvement of IPS, the PG279Q not only brings ASUS' first G-Sync capable IPS 2560×1440 panel to the world but also ups the ante more than any other screen we have seen when it comes to the maximum refresh rate: this beast will top out at 165 Hz! High performance gamers that have taken to the 144 Hz market will surely see the advantages of stepping up yet again though I am curious how ASUS is able to drive an IPS screen at this speed without artifacts or issues.
Interestingly, this panel not only includes a DisplayPort connection for 165 Hz 2560×1440 throughput but also an HDMI 1.4a input that can run 2560×1440 at 60 Hz, should you need that kind of thing. If you prefer ULMB over G-Sync, you have that option as well.
I'm not sure yet, but I can feel Allyn's trigger finger on the BUY NOW button…if it existed. We don't have pricing and we don't have any update on availability, but if our past experiences with the ROG Swift line are any indication, I have a feeling this display is going to impress.
PCPER staff, any time there
PCPER staff, any time there is a Nvidia or AMD tech article the same old trolls come and pollute the comments section where normal people want to ask questions or get some sort of advice.
I would assume there be an easy solution to get the same offenders blocked or whatever like other tech sites. Especially the ones with same name and avatar that would be so easy to moderate.
I come here less often now to ask a question or get advice because of this.
I believe they allow those
I believe they allow those same old trolls to operate here because it “stirs up the pot” which gets traffic. None of them go too far, the usual trolls ‘open their mouths and stick their own foot’ in all the time.
Or have someone they know
Or have someone they know from the PCPER community moderate around here because its always the same few (4-5 assholes) coming here fanboying over their brand loyalty like these corporate cocksuckers that they are.
This. It is the internet, so
This. It is the internet, so everyone should be practiced in ignoring their kind. But some level of moderation is appreciated. A couple of the comments above are quite offensive.
A *lot* of them are. Mostly
A *lot* of them are. Mostly from what appears to be the same person, using an Anonymous tag. The lack of a “flag” function is extremely frustrating.
I’d be okay with some of the silly fanboying from a couple of our named-and-registered regulars above, at least they’re not being vulgar about it. But some of the garbage up there is just ridiculous.
How can we ignore the crap
How can we ignore the crap when we cannot hide their shit responses while reading through the comments for questions or answers with a minimalist looking comments they have here, just sad…
“I come here less often now
“I come here less often now to ask a question or get advice because of this.”
Same here. I have a registered account; I don’t use it anymore. I turned Adblocker back on for this site. I find myself asking questions and participating in discussion on other sites. All because the comments section here is starting to resemble Fudzilla’s or WCCF’s comment sections.
I come here, I read the articles, I go elsewhere.
I used to love the community. Comment threads like this are why I don’t anymore.
I agree. If Pcper just banned
I agree. If Pcper just banned Hitman, JohnGR, and Arbiter, the comments section would be a lot more usable. For some reason, most of the worst trolls/fanboys seem to insist on having an identity
I also agree because of their
I also agree because of their pushy toxic fanboyism responses it makes others come on here and do the same aka trollsfanboys etc.
If they were gone or IP banned or whatever it would start to solve some of the issues.
All i care about is if it has
All i care about is if it has back light issues. Thats was my only issue with the acer model.
Have to wait until they get a
Have to wait until they get a review copy and tested it. Most probably blurbusters or tftcentral will have it first and post a detailed review.
wow this comments section got
wow this comments section got REKT!
Frankly, at this point, one
Frankly, at this point, one wonders why:
1. FreeSync monitor can’t get the pixel overdrive right at VRR.
2. Why a single manufacturer can’t make a monitor that is both freesync and gsync.
My suspicion is that nVidia has a patent on variable overdrive for VRR and thus prevent monitor manfacturers to implement it on FreeSync. Even though the idea of variable overdrive of pixels is not some kind of stroke of genius, the patent system woudl surely blindly protect it. After all, it’s just a curve based on color and refresh frequency. Nothing magic here.
I hope monitor makers find a way around it: maybe a user-controlled system to adjust the curve would circumvent the patent?
Only speculation though.
Hey asus, Instead of giving
Hey asus, Instead of giving us all another 16hz how about you improve your quality control.
Sisterly,
A disgruntled ROG swift purchaser.
