Dell 3008WFP LCD Monitor with DisplayPort

DisplayPort is coming, and very soon.  Dell is going to be one of, if not THE first to get a high quality DisplayPort capable monitor on the market in the form of an updated 30" display.  The Dell 3008WFP adds more than just a DisplayPort connection though; it combines the 30" and 2560x1600 resolution with the features of the multimedia-based 24" monitors released in 2007.

The 3008WFP flat panel display has an active matrix, thin-film
transistor (TFT), liquid crystal display (LCD). The monitor features include:

■ 30-inch (756.228 mm) viewable area display.

■ 2560 x 1600  resolution, plus full-screen support for lower
resolutions.

■ Wide viewing angle to allow viewing from a sitting or standing position, or
moving side-to-side.

■ Tilt, swivel and vertical extension capabilities.

■ Removable pedestal and VESA 100 mm mounting holes for flexible mounting
solutions.

■ Plug and play capability if supported by your system.

■ On-Screen Display (OSD) adjustments for ease of set-up and screen
optimization.

■ Software and documentation CD includes an information file (INF), Image
color Matching File (ICM), and product documentation.

■ Energy Saver feature for Energy Star compliance.

■ Security lock slot.

■ 9-in-2 USB 2.0 Card Reader (CF I/II, xD, SD/Mini SD, MS/HSMD/MSPRO,  MMC).

■ Support VGA, DVI-D, DisplayPort, HDMI, Component, S-Video and
Composite video signals.

■ Support Picture by Picture (PBP) Select mode.

Combining all these connections on a monitor that can do PBP (picture-by-picture) this could be a monitor as well as a great multimedia display for users with tight space requirements.  A TV/monitor for your dorm, if you will.  Power consumption is pretty substantial at 163 watts under typical use but about in line with all the other 30" displays.
