Though it wasn’t officially released or announced yet, NVIDIA sent out a PR this morning touting the use of a new chispet in an upcoming Dell system.  The XPS 600 series of system will now be using the NVIDIA nForce4 SLI X16 MCP that gives the board a full x16 lanes of PCI Express to both graphics card slots and rids the system of any switching or paddle boards for moving between SLI and standard modes.  In all reality, this will mean nothing in terms of performance on the chipset itself, but a deal like this with Dell is big news for NVIDIA.

This morning, Dell introduced their new XPS 600 desktop gaming PC. This is the world’s first PC to feature the brand new NVIDIA nForce4 SLI X16 technology and dual GeForce 7800 GTX GPUs!

It is also one of the few times that Dell has used a non-Intel chipset. This is a big endorsement for NVIDIA and our SLI, GPU and MCP technologies.

The new NVIDIA nForce4 SLI X16 MCP provides up to a total of 40 PCI Express lanes, with two full bandwidth x16 slots.

As a company, we were the first to reinvent the high-end enthusiast space with dual x8 SLI, and we are doing it again with dual x16.
