The SilverStone Strider ST400 400w Power Supply won’t win any awards for power or efficiency, but it certainly passed all the tests that [H]ard|OCP put it through.  The big surprise that it offers is it’s price tag, which is around $50.  It is worth considering, even with modern systems, if you aren’t planning on overclocking or slapping 2 (or more) graphics cards into your PC.  Those PCs don’t need a 650W PSU, let alone a 1200W one, even if it is nice to have.  It is also good news for those PC builders who do need a super powered PSU, as it tosses the glove down by proving a good quality PSU can be sold for a lot cheaper than many of the other PSU companies currently charge.

“SilverStone updates its mainstream Strider ST400 computer power supply. Last time SilverStone failed our low voltage test, critical in the USA. We find out whether or not this new version is up to our quality standards.”
