Something new will be announced by Microsoft in September but no one seems to know exactly what Threshold is. It could be a work in progress version of Windows 9: The Button's Return, but then again it could be something completely different. The rumours and speculation are rampant, as the current 982X build carries the name "Windows Technical Preview", similar to what Win8 was labelled before release but not specific enough to discourage enthusiasts from theorizing that it could be something else. Also adding to the fuel is a new feature in Windows Update which will allow in place upgrades of your build of Windows, perhaps similar to the Windows Vista to 7 upgrade which caused much confusion. "Nobody seems to know for sure whether 'Threshold' and 'Windows 9' will be one and the same or separate operating systems, reports Woody Leonhard in his roundup of insights on Microsoft's forthcoming OS plans, expected September 30. 'Many people think the terms are synonymous, but longtime Chinese leaker Faikee continues to maintain that they are two separate products, possibly headed in different directions.

No tiles please, or any Frameworks, services, or UIs, that cater to the current Tablet/Tile/TIFKAM “APPS”. 7 is doing just fine waiting for 2020, better make an OS version that is just an improved 7, and M$ get to cracking on a more HSA aware OS, one that forces Intel, AMD, Nvidia, and others, graphics, and GPGPU, to be always on and useable, no more of the either or, one but not the other. It’s the OS’s responsibility to assure that all available hardware/processing power be always available for use. Real OSs and the OS’s makers should enforce that the SOC/CPU/GPU device makers supply the drivers that allow their respective devices/integrated components, to be always available for their intended uses, no more switchable excuses! GPUs should provide graphics and GPGPU on an always on mode, no more dead silicon, for lack of proper driver/OS support, when an all resources processing ability is needed from all the hardware. This means, at a minimum, Intel’s underpowered GPUs should be able to supply at least some extra GPGPU, while AMD’s or Nvidia’s GPUs does the graphics, instead of just being switched off, and the other way around, however improbable for graphics uses, OpenCL can make use of GPGPU, as can HSA standard Intermediate Languages, for spreading compute workloads across Heterogeneous processing devices(CPUs/GPUs/FPGAs/ETC).
Apple’s OSX Yosemite’s “Handoff” ability is just the beginnings of a Full, wirelessly and wired, asymmetrical processing ability built into the consumer OS, that allows processing workloads to be dispatched and seamlessly passed between separate devices, towards a future where all consumer OSs will have built in automatic cluster computing functionality, and tablets will have fully functioning desktop grade OSs, that can dispatch heavy computing workloads, to the household’s main server, workloads that are run across all the device’s SOCs/GPUs/CPUs/whatever, attached/connected processing hardware(asymmetrical multiprocessing).

That is why they use day glo colours, the alternative is they sub-contracted the colour scheme to the early learning centre

It’s not Thaaaaaat far fetched. There was a point, near right before when windows 7 came out, when Vista was known as garbage by everyone, that the oem’s were selling systems with Vista loaded and a free upgrade to 7 upon release. It’s not gona happen this time, but there is precedence for the question.
