so that custom design ARM
so that custom design ARM core from AMD, is it for server only or will they make an SoC that will competes with the likes of Snapdragon, Tegra, Exynos etc?
AMD should be able to take
AMD should be able to take any Custom ARMv8 ISA based server chip, and make a Mobile SKU to compete with Nvidia’s Denver, will very little modification. AMD is going to make its custom ARM core HSA aware, and it will probably have hUMA, to go along with the AMD graphics. The next generation after the Apple A7, the A8 is going to be the custom ARMv8 design that AMD and Nvidia will have to compete with. The Apple SOC will probably go with the PowerVR Wizard with hardware ray tracing GPU. An Apple tablet running OSX would definitely get some improved sales for Apple, and give Intel some competition in the graphics tablet market. It’s too bad that Nvidia appears to be stuck on the Android OS, to the detriment of any full linux based tablets, as the Tegra K1, running a Full linux distro could become a great low cost graphics tablet. The Apple A7 custom wide order ARMv8 SOC set the bar high for the rest of the custom ARMv8 ISA based competition, with execution resources that have more in common with an Intel core i series(See Anand’s review/s), than with even the ARM holdings refrence designs, and Apple was able to get its custom ARMv8 ISA based SOC to market before anyone, much to Arm Holdings’ suprise. Nvidia better Get its Denver version of the Tegra K1 to market ASAP before it loses more business. The tablet market is becoming saturated and the the competition is going to be fierce, with Intel Contra revenuing tablet SOCs to the market at a loss, just to gain market share.

PNY laptop memory never
PNY laptop memory never worked for any of my laptops, but the slack jaws at Best Buy would never have anything other on the shelves, every other decent memory had to be ordered! Had to go to Microcenter Boston/Cambridge to get a better brand of laptop memory, PNY’s not that good even for the low priced market. Man I wish they woudd get a Fry’s or other big box electronics store in Boston, Microcenter Boston/Cambridge is very hard to contact by phone. Best Buy closed its Boston Back bay location, and that would be a great location for a Fry’s on other electronics store.
Those ASUS motherboards are
Those ASUS motherboards are looking really good. Application-specific turbo profiles should be useful when dealing with particularly badly threaded stuff, like setting a very high single core turbo profile when playing SC2, then moving to a moderate all-core turbo for encoding.

Allyn, you are missing
Allyn, you are missing something great you can do with those mSata to usb3 enclosures. I bought a crucial mSATA 256GB and one of these things, another brand, to have a very fast external drive. The alternative was buying an external SATA drive, but there are few to choose from, they are more expensive than the combo, and of much lower quality than the combo. Now I have a tiny, super fast, external drive. And if I ever need an op sys drive for a new rig, I can always pull out the crucial mSATA from the adapter case and stick on the mobo.
