Noctua is an established player in the CPU cooler space, offering high quality solutions that cool your processors without killing your eardrums. Their U-series coolers combine unrivaled cooling performance with an innovative design to ensure quiet operation and motherboard compatibility. The flagship product of this line, the NH-U14S, is composed of a single aluminum-finned radiator with six embedded, nickel-plated copper heat pipes running through a copper base plate. For performance testing of the NH-U14S cooler, we put it up against other high-performance liquid and air-based coolers. With a retail MSRP of $75.99, the NH-U14S CPU cooler has a premium price to match its premium size and cooling potential.

Noctua built the NH-U14S cooler to transfer as much heat as possible from the processor to its massive 150mm wide radiator. They integrated six heat pipes into the copper base plate, terminating on opposite side of the aluminum-finned radiator for optimal transfer of heat from the copper heat pipes to the air medium. To facilitate this transfer, Noctua paired the NH-U14S with their NF-A15 140mm, 1500RPM fan. The fan features rubber cover plates on all four corners to minimize fan vibration and vibration transfer to the radiator, further reducing fan noise. The CPU base plate is seamless and polished to a mirror finish, ensuring an optimal mating surface.

Noctua bundles SecureFirm2™ mounting kits for using the NH-U14S with any current AMD and Intel socket motherboard. Also included are the Noctua-branded NF-A15 150mm 1500RPM fan, NT-H1 thermal paste, a PWM power splitter cable, and two sets of fan mounts (four mounts total) for use with up to two fans with the unit.

I assume this cooler being
I assume this cooler being 150mm width wouldn’t fit Intel MB that have graphic slot at top , instead of many that have PCI-E 16lane down one slot .

Thanks for the review, any plans with the D15?
Rather than testing two CPUs which both produce relatively little heat but use lackluster heatspreaders, I think it would be more useful to test one of those and a high power, soldered CPU (LGA2011 or AMD).

Any idea if you can buy a
Any idea if you can buy a second low noise adapter and use it for a dual fan set=up? I get that it should make the dual fan set-up quieter but run hotter, but how much cooler or how much hotter?
My first guess would be it would run very similarly to the single fan configuration without the LNA.
Your best bet would be to
Your best bet would be to contact Noctua support to see if they can either send you one or sell you one (an LNA adapter that is). If you buy a second Noctua branded fan, they normally package them with the LNA adapter as well. You could also make one yourself if your technically savvy enough – its just a power cord with an in-line resister to dampen the fan voltage.
As far as performance goes, you'd probably see an increase of 1-2C over full speed with the Noctua fans so most likely equal to single fan operation or sitting in between single fan full speed and LNA operation.

Great Review! I have read 10+ reviews of this cooler before this review and I learned additional information reading this review. I also appreciate all the pictures. I love reviews like this which are heavy on pictures. I have never been to PC Perspective before and I will be coming back.
