The AMD Gaming Evolved App updates your drivers, optimizes your game settings, streams your gameplay to Twitch, accesses some social media platforms, and now gives prizes. Points are given for playing games using the app, optimizing game settings, and so forth. These can be exchanged for rewards ranging from free games, to Sapphire R9-series graphics cards.
This program has been in beta for a little while now, without the ability to redeem points. The system has been restructured to encourage using the entire app by lowering the accumulation rate for playing games and adding other goals. Beta participants do not lose all of their points, rather it is rescaled more in line with the new system.
The Gaming Evolved prize program has launched today.
Press release after the teaser.

Powered by Raptr, comprehensive loyalty program grants gamers a chance to earn points and claim prizes in the AMD Gaming Evolved community —
SUNNYVALE, Calif. — Feb. 19, 2014 — AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced the AMD Rewards program powered by Raptr, giving AMD Radeon™ graphics and AMD APU-based PC gamers the chance to redeem points earned within the AMD Gaming Evolved application for prizes.
“We are thankful for the millions of gamers that support the AMD Radeon™ brand by using the AMD Gaming Evolved application Powered by Raptr,” said Darren McPhee, director, Graphics Marketing, AMD. “The AMD Rewards program is our way of thanking our loyal customers and giving back to the community that has given so much to us.”
The AMD Gaming Evolved App helps gamers get the best experience every time they play by recommending optimal game settings tailored to their rig; keeping their drivers up to date; and through a diverse set of in-game tools like chat, web-browsing, live-streaming, and through the new AMD Rewards loyalty program. Players can earn points by using the app to play their favorite games, optimize setting for those games, or engage with the community. Those points can be redeemed for AMD Rewards in the Raptr store.
At launch, gamers will be able to redeem points for prizes, such as: Sapphire Technology Radeon R9 Series graphics cards, and tons of free games, ASTRO gaming headsets, GameFly subscriptions, GUNNAR gaming eyewear, discounts and more. AMD Rewards Program is an extension to the broader Raptr Rewards program, which has already given out millions of dollars’ worth of rewards.
“We see AMD Rewards as a natural extension of what Raptr Rewards does for gamers,” Dennis Fong, Raptr’s CEO, explained. “It’s really great to be able to reward players for all the time and effort they’ve invested in playing games.”

Wow, your writing in the last
Wow, your writing in the last two posts was quite good indeed. You covered a lot in a concise fashion and it was very easy to follow. Nicely done. Meant in the kindest way.

Raptr has been working
Raptr has been working surprisingly well since it was introduced last fall. I didn’t think I’d keep it installed, but it works damn well.
I’m sorry Scott, but this
I’m sorry Scott, but this really read like an ad.
This software is a complete piece of junk. Don’t waste your time. I have been running this for weeks.
I just wanted to point out that Beta participants DID lose the majority their points (contrary to their claim). People with existing points were not “rescaled”. Everyone was just cut down to 4,000 points or less, without warning, some of us had enough points for a game. We all ended up at the 4,000 range no matter how many you had. The point cost for a game was “reduced” from 30,000 points, to 26,000. While DRASTICALLY reducing the amount of points you can earn per-day.
The way the point system is set up now. It will take you about 365 days, earning the maximum of 65 points per-day. Just to have enough points for one game. That GPU is going to be beyond out of date by the time you have enough points for it as well.
The “Auto Optimize” feature is a complete waste. It still doesn’t support more than half of the games i own. In my experience, games are often “optimized” with MUCH lower settings than my system could comfortably push. It also does not seem to take CrossFireX into account when “optimizing”.
The live streaming is just plain old CPU encoding, and has very minimal settings. This does not compete with ShadowPlay in any way. Why someone would use this to stream instead of OBS or XSplit is beyond me.
The Raptr forums are filled with pissed off people. The moderators have been on damage control ever since they took everyone’s already earned points, and changed the point system. I’m willing to bet they made this press release just because so many people uninstalled the app last week.
I said this on the forums and will repeat it until someone gets a clue over there.
If you want to collect performance data from peoples computers for free. You need to make it worth our while.
People need to get some benefit from running your app. Either that is some kind of functionality, or prizes like they attempted. NVIDIAs app has other functionality from running it, which makes it worth running the first place. Like ShadowPlay, or SHIELD game streaming. I’m sure most people run it just for ShadowPlay. Which is how NVIDIA gets all of of that performance information.
AMD is just trying to compete with this software, instead of adding value through it. This kind of ham handed approach is now how you get people to use your app.

Oh my god, no way? The
Oh my god, no way? The travesty that you will be given a FREE GAME for PLAYING GAMES in a year’s time. WTF is wrong with you? Your sense of entitlement is pretty ridiculous and laughable.
By my count, AMD is giving away thousands of dollars worth of stuff every day in the sweepstakes alone.
I actually find the app useful for optimizations and the rewards are awesome considering it’s not intrusive to what I’m already doing… which is gaming. If you’re using it to get a free game, go get a job.
Someone in the forums did a calculation and figured out that each point is worth between 2 to 4 cents. That means AMD is effectively paying you for playing games… and you’re crying about it?
Raptr- interesting tool, it
Raptr- interesting tool, it works – sorta, the data gathering depends on who is using the tool – so if none of them play your games- then it depends on you to update the settings.
case in point- i was playing fallout 3, fallout new vegas, stalker and half life 2 – yup i know they are old- but other than half life i never finished the others- so it was time to get back to them- well Raptr had nothing to offer to optimise as no one plays the games
another issue was multimonitors and steam- i was only using 1 monitor for a couple games and raptr had an issue – with raptr the mouse curser would not stay in game but liked to wander to another screen.
oh well- it will get better.
