Rumors are abounding around the Internet concerning Motorola’s Moto X smartphone. Leaked specifications, photos, and release dates have all appeared online, and at this point most sites are reporting on the phone with a fair amount of certainty. Should the rumors hold true, Motorola’s latest Android smartphone will be launched on August 1, 2013 and available for purchase from wireless carriers as early as August 23, 2013.

On the outside, the Moto X is an approximately 5-inch smartphone with rounded corners and a curved back. The back cover bulges out towards the top and tapers off towards the bottom of the phone. Also, the Kevlar back cover has a textured finish, indented Motorola logo, and a 10MP camera with flash. The front of the Android smartphone has a 4.5” 720p (1184 x 720) touchscreen display, 2MP webcam, and three soft (back, home, and menu) capacitive buttons.

The Unlockr posted a leaked render of the Moto X.

Internal specifications include a Qualcomm MSM8960T SoC, 2GB of RAM, 16GB (non expandable) storage, Wi-Fi and cellular radios, a 2,200 mAh battery, and Android 4.2.2. The Qualcomm MSM8960T SoC includes a dual core Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU clocked at 1.7GHz, an Adreno 320 GPU clocked at 400MHz, and the wireless modem.

The phone is reportedly assembled in the USA and should come in at affordable subsidized prices considering the hardware specifications are not all that impressive or new. If The Verge is correct in stating that Motorola will be delivering a “near stock” Android experience, then it may still be popular despite not dethroning competing Android flagships on hardware specifications alone.
