I got an odd email just now that I thought I would share with you. From AMD's Gaming Evolved account I got this:
You're at the top of your game. Why isn't your hair? TressFX is specially formulated with dynamic compounds like PPLL to re-energize your tired locks with vitality and luster.
WAT?
An odd campaign for sure, but it appears that on Tuesday AMD is going to discuss a technology that will bring realistic hair to gaming. Finally some use for all that GPGPU horsepower on the Southern Islands graphics cards?
You can see the landing page for yourself right here.
In my opinion, this is
In my opinion, this is ingenious. I can still remember the prescription bottle of pills “Verdetrol”
That was pretty clever… 😉

My thoughts it could be a 8
My thoughts it could be a 8 core FX APU or a FX series GPU
I don’t think so. Maybe is
I don’t think so. Maybe is related to some new anti-aliasing method.

Oh yeah my favorite type of geek pr0n is a Radeon Shower.
Probably the “secret”
Probably the “secret” DX11-effect for the new Tomb Raider
Perhaps this is the first
Perhaps this is the first move on AMD’s part to counter PhysX?
They already do with Bullet
They already do with Bullet and Havok…
Havok is from Intel.
AND’s
Havok is from Intel.
AND’s Bullet is from… the Physx creator.
Erwin Coumans didn’t created
Erwin Coumans didn’t created PhysX he worked for Havok, the PhysX brand name and engine was created by Ageia for its PPU card (physics processing unit) Ageia PhysX was based on two physics engines called NovodeX and Meqon, Nvidia bought Ageia and assimilated their Physx engine killing the Ageia PPU in the process.
I wanted to say there are
I wanted to say there are other solutions. There is no need to create another proprietary solution.
Most of the forums I’ve
Most of the forums I’ve looked at think it has to do with the Havok’s GPU physics demo from the PS4 conference. That be nice for us AMD GPU guys

Is it gpu physics or cpu
Is it gpu physics or cpu physics?
It will be really really nice to see AMD gpu physics. Right now I am using Nvidia hardware(found an 560ti really cheap) but I would love to see AMD taking the lead in this one. Nvidia with it’s proprietary code that it is coded in… basic for the cpu and the locks in the driver (AMD gpu? I refuse to work!) failed for me. Totally.
from the video they claim it
from the video they claim it was GPU physics, but the FX makes you think of their CPU line-up. we well see in two days. AMD really needs something unique or Intel and Nvidia well keep eating them slowly.
I believe AMD wants to say
I believe AMD wants to say that they care about us, so it is important that our appearance is as dynamic as their visualizations products.
So if that makes my hair truly filled with vitality and luster, it will probably do the same for the PC (that everyone loves).
