I also sort of agree with
I also sort of agree with Ryan… by a “controlled environment” I think it would be more about a guaranteed experience, rather than locking down the hardware. As in, it would be upgrade-able, but the “steambox experience” wouldnt be guaranteed on the upgraded hardware. I like the idea, but I feel like it could be marketing pc games in the wrong way. Pc gaming is about diversity, and by trying to create a guaranteed experience, they could be inadvertently limiting hardware and capability to a console style generation system. It could turn off a lot of people who buy a steambox expecting the full PC experience.
