Hey Ryan,
The 690 is a great card and I plan on getting one. I just hope that there is some kind of cool looking plate or shroud to add to the bottom of it. I asked this in a video question a while back on TWICH where they should put something there for me to look at instead of the same old PCB like every other card.
The AC-130 is a gunship, not
The AC-130 is a gunship, not “armored cargo”. 🙂
Is it just me, or is Josh
Is it just me, or is Josh looking sick as a dawg? I think he should be lying in bed, going through tissues and eating chicken soup…
I’m feeling much better
I’m feeling much better now…
I’m watching the podcast :}
I’m watching the podcast :} now.
i didn’t see any mention in the podcast whether the 690 gtx solved the micro stuttering issue …. i feel this is an important question that ought to be included for all multi gpu setups :X
in your podcast you mentioned chromium being used for the 690 …. but that is air cooling based on a jet fighter cooling system. how does this compare to a highend water cooling graphics card water block setup ?
*update
Okay water cooling was mentioned. what caught my interest was something about the 690 water cooling and back plate. didn’t really get what you meant by that :X plz explain.
and there is another thing to consider. availability. there are many comments online about nvidia’s lack of being able to supply enough to meet demand ….
*update
you did talk about this in the podcast so i appreciate that :} kudos…
i want some comments regarding the amd tahiti 7970 vs nvidia kepler 680 in regards to image quality. There is some online discussions claiming the kepler has WORSE IQ compared to their older cards. And that the Ati has better IQ compared to Nvidia. FPS benchmarks is important to know when using ultra settings, but let us not forget the IQ analysis which to me and others is also equally important.
i already commented on your malware article

PS: i would appreciate name plates being used for podcasters as i am unfamiliar with the staff :X
I think they do have
I think they do have lower-third names displayed at certain points of the ‘cast 🙂
The backplate: they meant the part of the card that holds the display connectors and the vents for the air cooling to exhaust out the back. Even if you replaced the stock cooler, the backplate (where it is screwed into the chassis) stays the same so it will always take up two PCI slots in the case even though it’s not two electrical PCI-E slots.
oh i get it.

oh i get it.
My pc wc rig has the 680 card with a ek en nickle+acetal water block.

It looks thinner after replacing the stock fan cooler, but like you said, the rear panel still occupies 2 slots :X
Yep, on the inside it is one
Yep, on the inside it is one slot but on the PCI backplane, it’s two.
Tnx for the time stamps
Tnx for the time stamps again.
I really love your Podcast’s, but often i don’t have time to watch it all, or am not interested in some parts.
I hear there is podcast software you can make a time stamp by pushing a button, every time you change the subject.
And if you make time stamps, why not make a link to certain time stamp if you making time stamps anyway, it would not be that hard.
24:52[>] Intel Releases 910 Series Enterprise PCIe SSD
This would be even better, as YouTube lets you start on a certain time.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YiudV_BBHuw&feature=player_embedded#t=1492s
As time stamps like 24:52 is easily calculated back to seconds
(24min x 60 = 1440s) + 52s = 1492s
So you just ad {a href=”http:// … #t=XXXXs”}[>]{/a} to every line, and only change the seconds.
And, ware the [>] in my example could be replaced by a nice play icon.
Or have you guys just given up on the hole time stamp concept????
