You've met Microsoft's two new Surface Tablet by now, either in Scott's write up or elsewhere on the net and are aware that there is a less expensive ARM and Tegra 3 version and a more expensive Ivy Bridge model. What you might not have known is the expected pricing, a lack that DigiTimes remedies this morning with the prediction the WinRT model will cost at least $600 and the Win8 model more than $800. Both are being assembled by Pegatron Technology but the amount being assembled is still unknown. The Surface Tablet is certainly attention grabbing but it costs significantly more than other tablets and many full notebooks, but it likely to be lower priced than either Intel or Apple's ultraportable devices which puts it in an odd spot in the market. How many will be willing to pay that much for a multi-touch tablet with dock?
"Sources from notebook players have revealed that Microsoft's 10.6-inch Surface tablet PCs will be outsourced to Pegatron Technology for assembly; however, there is still not a firm estimate for order volumes.
The sources also estimated the end-market price of the Windows 8 Pro-based Surface tablet PC with Ivy Bridge processor to be at least above US$799, while the Windows RT-based model, featuring Nvidia's Tegra 3, will be priced above US$599."

You may remember news about Microsoft's Surface, a large sized touchscreen PC intended originally for use as a point of sales device, drop a smart device on Surface and it would bring up all the available information on that device. It didn't take long for the rest of us to realize just how incredibly spiffy this large scale table was. From taking pen and paper role playing games to a level old DMs have only dreamed of to bringing a Star Wars game to the next level.
Well, according to DailyTech you can start making preorders for the 40" Microsoft Surface at the low low price of $8,400. It looks to be a big win for AMD, this Surface is powered by a Athlon X2 245e, a 2.9GHz low power chip and the graphics are provided by an HD6570M. It is running Windows 7 and Surface 2.0 software though surely future products will sport a Win8 interface. No word on the shipping date unfortunately.
"Microsoft Corp.'s (MSFT) surface multi-touch slab (slab = huge tablet) first showed up in prototype form in May 2007, more than a year before Apple, Inc. (AAPL) was rewarded a patent for multi-touch gestures, and a full three years before the market launch of the iPad.
But the device is finally here (dubbed the "SUR40"), and you can buy one for the lowly price of $8,400 USD (roughly 17 10-inch iPads)."

Back in the days when pen and paper were king and LCDs were limited to your watch, the sound of people gaming involved dice rolling not keyboards clicking. Then came the days of Origins and SSI and gamers started migrating to a new platform. For those who miss those days when role playing meant a bit more than clicking dialogue options, Microsoft Surface and the boys at SurfaceScape have a little something for you. Surface, if you do not recall is a new bit of tech from Microsoft, a combi

We have been seeing demos of Microsoft Surface at most trade shows for the past while. Microsoft is rightly proud of this new multi-touch interface; they've come up with a complete replacement for the mouse and keyboard. This does present a lot of challenges when designing a GUI for the Surface if you intend to do more than just offer a virtual keyboard and mouse. CoolTechZone finds themselves much more impressed with Microsoft's Surface after watching an episode of DL.TV. The "coffee table" PC has an interface that has been very popular in movies for a while now, but hard to find in reality. The first time you run into Surface it will likely be in a retail store, possibly T-Mobile, and used as a selling aid. When you place a
