With the release of the new GPUs from AMD comes an addition to the Never Settle bundle, aptly named Never Settle Space Edition. In addition to the games already available on the Never Settle Forever those who buy the new R9 285 will be able to choose from Alien: Isolation, Star Citizen, Space Run and Habit. You can see a model of the ship that seems to come with Star Citizen at HEXUS.
The Fragging Frogs will be logging in tonight to get in some gaming action after the Podcast, you can see what is planned and make suggestions in this thread on our Forums.
"To coincide with the launch of the AMD Radeon R9 285 graphics cards AMD will augment the Never Settle choices and re-name the bundle as the 'Never Settle Space Edition'. With the newly announced additional quartet of space games AMD graphics card purchasers will have a choice of 31 games to pick though, depending upon what GPUs they buy."

Several rowboats worth of snacks, a couple of canoe-fulls of assorted beverages and boatloads of fun were had this weekend in the highly successful 7th Fragging Frogs VLAN; if you missed it there will be another chance some day but you really missed an epic event. There were over 120 Teamspeak connections in a variety of channels and an estimated peak of 78 active participants. Thanks to AMD there is a new game for the Frogs as well as Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare was a hit both to the players and to those watching iamApropos' live stream. We also gained some ARMA 2 fans which will not only appear again next VLAN but is also in danger of becoming a frequent activity for some members.
Once again there was quite a bit of valuable hardware and software given away, the list includes:
- AMD Fan Kit (headset, 16 GB USB drive, mouse)
- AMD Gaming Series RAM - 8 GB of 2133 Mhz
- MSI Military Class 4 A88XM-E35 FM2+ motherboard *and* A10-7850K APU
- AMD FX-8350 Processor
- XFX R9 290 Double D graphics card
- Several Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare Origin codes
AMD Red Team+
- Murdered Soul Suspect game codes
- Sniper Elite 3 game codes
Please stop by this thread to offer your thanks and support for all the hard work put into these events by Lenny, iamApropos, Spazster, Brandito, Cannonaire, AMD and the Frogs in general.

If you haven't yet signed up in the official thread, stocked up on snacks and beverages and reserved all of the weekend for gaming then maybe this will excite you enough to change your plans.
By the way, Play Battlefield 4 Free for a Week. Origin Game Time is On! It is a rather popular choice with the Frogs so if you don't have it that is no excuse!
You should also consider subscribing to TornTV where you can find a lot of Fragging Frog and PC Perspective action. There will also be a live stream where you can show off your skills, or lack thereof, to the whole internet!

Saturday August the 9th you should stock up on snacks and beverages as the seventh Virtual LAN Party kicks of at 10AM EDT and goes until the last member drops! WarSam can't make it but we are putting pressure on amd_Roy to show up so you can take potshots at one of your favourite vendors. Once again the prizes will be bountiful but this time they are a secret so if you even want to know what is being given away, let alone win anything you are going to have to show up! Not only that but you must registered at the PCPer forums and post to this thread to confirm your attendance; we run a very strict pond after all.
The thread also contains the list of suggested games, the IP addresses of servers, a link on how to connect to the (upgraded) PCPer TeamSpeak server and most especially the names of those people you should thank for putting in the massive amounts of effort required to put these events together. See you there!

It was a sad day for the Fragging Frogs last Monday (6/16/14) when we lost one of our own, Kernal_Tom, known in the forums as tlemaste. He passed away due to complications from surgery to address his ongoing health issues. He joined the PC Perspective Forums and the Fragging Frogs over 12 years ago after running into Lenny at his day job. They became fast friends immediately and Kernal_Tom's great personality and positive attitude ensured he quickly became good friends with all the regular Fragging Frogs as well ... indeed he didn't give you much choice as he was one of the most frequent participants in Teamspeak and gaming nights.
Anyone who knew him and has not yet done so can leave their remembrances and well wishes for Kernal_Tom's wife in this thread in the Forums. This loss has hit many of us and sharing your memories can be helpful and is very appreciated. Anyone who wishes to help out his wife please donate to this fundraiser which Lenny has kindly started on YouCaring. Carol is also unfortunately in a battle to maintain her health and anything you can afford would help her greatly in this next stage of her life.
Show how much you miss Kernal_Tom and remember him the way he would want you to... by showing up at least once a week to game with a Fragging Frog!

The Fragging Frogs doubled our previous attendance at the 6th Virtual LAN party and may well have quadrupled the fun. UT2004 and Battlefield 4 were by far the highest attended events with Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit and Titanfall also attracting quite a few gamers. There were two challenges for prizes, an elimination UT2K4 event in which the top 10 scores went on to try to kill Lenny as many times as possible in an all versus Lenny team deathmatch. He loves that kind of attention and we love that game, especially Fragball with Redeemers!
The second challenge took place in BF4; the first player to knife either O-Dog or tommyp1ckles picked up one of the over two dozen AMD FX-8350s we gave away. O-Dog managed to embarrass himself a bit, managing to get stabbed in under a minute in the first of the two challenges but redeemed himself by stabbing tommyp1ckles in the second round.
You can find out when the next Virtual LAN Party is as well join in on the regular Fragging Frogs gaming sessions reach out to Lenny and all the gang on the Gaming Forum.
The full list of prizes included:
- FX-8350 processors - 25 in total!
- Warsam71's personal 7990 dual GPU video card
- Never Settle Forever SILVER game codes - 10 in total
From Epic Games:
- Games, strategy guides and posters signed by Tim Sweeney
- keys chain, sticker and bracelet sets
Thanks go to Warsam71 from AMD and iFlak from Epic who helped make this event even better and stopped by for a little gaming themselves.
Also, special thanks go to:
- Lenny - for herding cats like a pro
- iamApropos - for streaming and promoting our event
- Spazster (aka tORNTV) - for creating event graphics, our sweet intro video and promoting our event
- iwalkwiththedead - for creating event graphics and promoting our event
- Brandito - for hosting our Teamspeak server
- mmettin - for hosting our UT2004 server
- Activate:AMD - for managing our Battlefield 4 server
- Ryan - for Upgrading our TeamSpeak server from 32 to a much needed 64 slots
Drop by the forums to see the full list of winners (my 8350 is back in the pool for #7) and make sure to offer your thanks for all the hard work from those who organized and supported this event!

Tomorrow is the 6th official PC Perspective and Fragging Frogs Virtual LAN party, kicking off at 10AM EDT on Saturday May 3. You will find all the pertinent info on this thread in the Forums, such as how to Friend players on Steam or Origin, the Teamspeak server information and a list of the games we are likely to play as well as the patches and mods you will need.
Some reps from AMD will once again be joining us to give away prizes to those on the TeamSpeak server which you will need to log into in order to have a chance to win. Battlefeild 4 is a definite and you can be sure there will be some UT2004 being played as well. As well you are likely to get a chance to take a shot at the PC Perspective staff who will be showing up at various points during the day. There is also a high likelihood some of the games will be livestreamed
Come join us and have a blast!

This weekend, specifically at 10AM ET on February 22nd the fifth Virtual LAN Party kicks off, hosted by the famous Fragging Frogs and PC Perspective, with a good chance of some secret visitors from the Red Team. There is no set end time for the event nor for any of the games so if you have any time on Saturday in which you do not find yourself saving innocents from a fate worse than death* then hop on and play with us. You get to hang out with Forum members you have built friendships with, shoot those you hold a grudge against, and have the chance to frag Ryan, Josh and all the other PC Per staff brave enough to set foot into this battle royale.
*The only acceptable excuse to bail on us.
The games are many, both old and new; with a strong likelihood of every Battlefield game since 1942 represented along with spicy versions of Unreal 2004, Torchlight II, Hawken, a game involving heavy weapons versus dinosaurs and much more. You can see the whole list here and can suggest others if we missed one of your favourites. To prepare for the event you should install TeamSpeak 3 which is our chat client of choice; you can find the server info right here. Other than that just show up when you can and hop into the game of your choice.
We have been doing VLAN's on a very irregular schedule since 2010 but if this weekend goes well we might just start eating a bit more fibre and start a more regular schedule. There were once even tournaments held, though that was back when UT2K4 was shiny and new, which we could start up again. For even more fun, you could help the Frogs get back together on the regular schedule we used to hold to back in the golden days of yore. Don't forget to consider a jump in The Pond once you are finished playing, keep that CPU and GPU working full out!
This is also a great time to thank Lenny and AMD for the wonderful good deed that they did for one of our long term members. You can read about their good works here and be sure to thank them for putting the effort into helping out one of our own.
We look forward to seeing you there and shooting you several times.
