Introduction

Over the course of the last year, we have witnessed a heated debate over optimisations, image quality, and performance. As architectures began to show their age, questionable tactics began to emerge on every front. Fortunately, those days are now largely a thing of the past as NVIDIA and ATI have emerged with new architectures that raise the bar on all fronts. Both the GeForce 6 and Radeon X800 architectures fail to be mere iterative steps forward in terms of speed and features.
